Sorry, If previously spoken about - Is the new factory black moldings ( window trim, door handles and etc.) Satin or Shiny Black?
I want to match emblem and order parts.
Thanks

definitely satin finish. Hope this helps.

For what it's worth (and it may not be much), my delivery specialist told me that all the 2021 AWD and Performance Model 3s now have the 82 kwh battery. I have taken delivery but haven't seen any identifiers yet (haven't tried incredibly hard to find it, just looked when they were swapping my wheels but I think the sticker, if it's still a valid way, is probably in the front or rear and not on the side.

Ah yes, seeing some photos earlier back in the forum. Are you able to look up via that QR code the battery stats? Or....?

Not sure if this was mentioned yet, but the new Pirelli P Zero summer tires that the Model 3 Performance has switched to, also has noise-cancelling foam inside. Saw them when I got this switched, can take a photo if folks are interested
Just to reiterate this for other people in case they do not know, the noise-cancelling foam they put in these tires also makes emergency tire sealant (even the stuff Tesla themselves sells) not realy work for patching holes.

The foam inside just absorbs the sealant and prevents it from actually reaching and patching most holes. And then later you'll have to tear out all the contaminated foam and replace it, which costs even more.

So if you have the stock tires, don't use emergency tire sealant for holes.

Sorry for the delay but I haven't forgotten! I also snapped a quick video of these new uberturbine's in motion if folks are interested I'll try to link them a little later. They look good/I'm converted from being pretty disappointed earlier.

You actually may not have to remove anything if you have the right tools. I was able to take the picture below easily with my phone at 5x digital zoom, with the front wheels turned to the left. So close! Gets the serial number (no problem reading it), but the part number is hidden by the coolant pipe. However, this year it looks like they have rearranged the label, so probably on a new car my technique would get the part number! (The part number used to be at the bottom of the label; now it appears to be directly below the serial number and would be visible in my picture.) If you have the right light and the right technique you can probably get the this picture, without removing anything.

Removing the aero shield will definitely work.

Disassembling the frunk would probably work but I can't guarantee it. Arguably that is easier than removing the aero cover, since it's just 5 or 6 bolts and some plastic clips, and you don't have to have ramps and get on the ground. If you lose a plastic clip, you'll be removing the aero shield, though!

I poked around some more with no luck. I was worried that my good flashlight would roll away on the aero shield so I was just using the flashlight on my iPhone (it’s right next to the lens so it should be able to light up the target?) Took a few videos while poking around but don’t see anything resembling a battery label. I guess I can try to tape something to my flashlight so it’s more square and can’t roll...will try again later after recharging it.

I also disassembled my frunk today! But I don’t see anything under there that resembles a battery label either. :( It could be that all the heat pump hardware in the 2021 just makes it impossible from that angle. Frunk disassembly is super easy at least...just need to remove 7 bolts and a couple plastic pieces that clip into place. The only hard part for me was getting the cable out of the frunk light since it was in there pretty tight and I was worried I’d break it (but I got it out fine.) I reached in deep with my iPhone recording video again as well, with no luck.

Also, I noticed the coolant level under there is well below the nominal line. Should I be concerned about that...? Seems weird on a car that’s just 2 weeks old. No warnings or anything.

On the model Y the battery label I was referring to is attached on the bottom side of the very first and easiest Trunk cover you would take off that's nearest the windshield. Also on our few month old Model Y the coolant was also below nominal and I was wondering about that as well.

It's normal for all new cars to be low, due to air in the system. Maybe it's the same thing for Teslas. May I ask where is the coolant reservoir, to top it off? Hope it's handy, so I don't have to dismantle the frunk :).

Hey guys, question on the tire foam (noise cancellation). The noise made by the tire is when the carcass hits the pavement, so how a piece of foam on the inside of the tire can attenuate that noise??? And if anything, it might be an irrelevant amount, no? Curious if there's data supporting its efficacy, and how much quieter it is. Thanks.

Nope, the only sticker under that snap-in lid is the part number for the lid itself.

I don’t know all the details, but...the sound from the tires hitting the pavement is partly transmitted through the air in the tire itself, and the tire can also act to amplify the sound. Having the foam causes these sound waves to be dampened a little. Think about what would happen if you banged on a regular drum vs banging on the same drum if it was full of foam.

The reservoir is right under that same snap-in lid. You can remove it and replace it by hand, no tools needed. Just carefully pry under the lid edges to remove.

It’s definitely there. And it is possible. Turn front wheels all the way to the left. Position the light pointing toward middle front of battery. Put phone way up high above suspension piece and point down towards the front of the battery. I was able to barely see the screen from extreme angle to help with tapping the focus and to direct the aim. You really need that front of the battery illuminated as you can see.

Not sure if this is a recent addition to the CA Clean Fuel Rebate website or not, but now it's listing two battery sizes for the 2021 M3s.

Normal and expected for 2021 Performance since October (Performance gets the big battery, AWD gets the regular one). Only question is going to be what the actual capacities are (looks like about 81kWh and 78-79kWh - for now).
