With a delivery estimate of next week, I asked my sales guy about delivery location and tires. He said there was no option for me on delivery - Mt. Kisco it is. He described as 'relaxing' the car/train/Uber ride. I did that almost exactly three years ago for the M3 - that's OK.
On tires: "All of the new Model S wheels are indeed summer tires as it is a high performance vehicle. There isn’t an option to have them delivered with all season tires, but a vast majority of the customers I work with keep a set of winter tires and have them changed out for the colder months." Can anyone confirm a counter-example?
I was just contemplating different strategies. 1. Do nothing, don't drive the car in the cold or snow (have other cars, keeping the car salt-free is good, but the 'cold' season is long up here). 2. Get snow tires on rims (must install early and leave on late for the 'cold' bit, under 45°, $$$). 3. Get all season tires on rims (better for the merely 'cold' periods and on bare roads, fine for me in snow if caught out, $$$). 4. Get all season tires, mount on stock rims, sell summer tires (simple except for the 'selling' part, fine for me if caught out in snow, $ or $$).
I'm leaning towards option 3 - two sets of wheels, summer and all-season. (Notes: I have a two-post lift for changing mounted tires. '$$$' is $2057, minimum, per TireRack.com - not that bad.)
