Can someone who has taken MSLR delivery please confirm if the refresh model S windows can be remotely closed with the Tesla app? I know we can use vent in the app and open it but not close in the current MS. TIA.
I just tried the vent option under climate. It will open the four windows a couple of inches. Then will allow you to close them.

Supposedly on the all hands call last week, Elon said the new "Model 2" (which won't be called the Model 2) might not even have a steering wheel since it would be able to drive itself. Since that car is supposed to be $25,000, I think it would be foolish to pay $15k for FSD on top of the price of a Model S, 3, X or Y if you could get an entirely self driving car for $25,000.
What if a driver has to take over in an emergency situation like an accident or something? How would you navigate the vehicle without a steering wheel? … is a question I wish someone would ask musk

Don't you think FSD would be $13K or $15K if/when all the features you want are released. So, we will be paying $3K-$5K for ensuring it has the right features we value... So, kind of ends up being whether you are glass half full or half empty on Tesla's promise, I suppose. I am still shaking/stirring my glass to decide :p

I am on the fence myself changing my view every time I think about it. EDD is staying steady for Late Nov hence need to decide on FSD and PPF soon.... Thoughts?
No, I don’t think the price will increase because FSD adoption rate has been falling like a rock. Electrek reports it’s down to 11% for all Tesla models. However, if you segregate ms, it’s much higher. I think buyers have been surprised by how long it takes to develop FSD. Many buyers won’t pay for it because it is not transferable and a bad business model for leased vehicles. I will try the FSD subscription on my next road trip.

I did the opposite. I removed FSD via the website and it did not trigger a order price increase. My SA also told me the same, ”And yes correct, you can remove FSD without triggering the price increase.”

FWIW it’s the same price to add after the fact (which is why I removed, not to roll into financing) and also the option for a subscription (new, haven’t used this yet in other Tesla‘s I own).
Interesting... My SA told me price would go up and hence nervous about hitting buttons that makes irreversible changes to price (I have $10K less as I ordered in April). Did you remove it yourself or SA do it for you? Thanks in advance.

Thinking if I should stay put and remove it after i get my VIN

Hi everyone, been reading the forums for months, silently commiserating with all of you through the ups and downs of this drawn out process. Happy to report that I just got a VIN today! The real reason I wanted to post this though, is to warn those in the Bay area - everything happens extremely fast once you get a VIN! Within an hour, I got texts and emails asking for final payment and confirmation of home delivery on 9/9. I replied to the text with questions about the financing and inspection process and within a couple minutes a Tesla delivery specialist was calling me to walk me through it all. So 48 hours notice is all I got to get everything together - more like 24 hours since final payment needs to be made before the home delivery. I have Tesla financing but I'm scrambling now to get a better rate through an outside bank. Californians have 30 days post-purchase to arrange insurance but I have to figure out what's best when bundling with another car and a home policy. Worst case if my loan app doesn't process in time then they'll push out the delivery another day or two. I know dates have been jumping around so it's hard to predict if anything will actually stick, but when you get a narrow date range (<1wk) and within days of the current date, you may want to think about getting things in motion! This is of course for those who are local to the Bay area since the cars can get delivered as soon as they roll out of the factory and get inspected/prepped. I can sense the EOQ pressure building already and they don't want to hold on to cars any longer than they have to. Last few days in Sept are going to be nuts...

I didn't keep a meticulous log of all the delivery dates like others here did, but it looked roughly like below in case anyone's interested.

RN1146

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm in Bay area too. I'm going to put in the loan application this week so we can start the financing process. EOQ push is coming & they will not wait around for you if you are not ready with financing & down payment.

Interesting. I’ve had a similar experience, as far as a completely unserious initial EDD, then blank for months, then 9/14-9/30 expanding to 9/10-9/30 for three weeks now. From what I’ve seen, unless that EDD shortens it’s just a random placeholder. Good to know it happens fast in the Bat Area as I’m currently scheduled for a Fremont pickup.

The 21s look better but that’s all they have going for them Maybe better lateral acceleration. But worse range, rougher ride, far more susceptible to pothole damage, and extra $4,500.

Early reports from indicate that 21s with Michelins are about as quiet (perhaps more quiet in some circumstances, less quiet in others) as the 19s with Pirellis, and ride comfort is about the same. Of course, opinions vary -- but it seems close. Point is: thanks to the refreshed air suspension, improved acoustic treatment, and improved tires, larger wheels are far less of a comfort compromise than previously.

I don't consider wheel-destroying damage a massive risk at this point, at least where I tend to drive. But we'll see. You never expect the Spanish Inquisition, and all that.

The remaining differentiators are aesthetics and range. Range may be an issue for some people, but in my case it probably won't be for 99% of days I'm likely to own the car, since I have chargers at home and work, and only go into the office 2-3 times a week. But aesthetics... well... there's where the wheels differ dramatically... :)

Edit: And of course cost. Given.

With a delivery estimate of next week, I asked my sales guy about delivery location and tires. He said there was no option for me on delivery - Mt. Kisco it is. He described as 'relaxing' the car/train/Uber ride. I did that almost exactly three years ago for the M3 - that's OK.

On tires: "All of the new Model S wheels are indeed summer tires as it is a high performance vehicle. There isn’t an option to have them delivered with all season tires, but a vast majority of the customers I work with keep a set of winter tires and have them changed out for the colder months." Can anyone confirm a counter-example?

I was just contemplating different strategies. 1. Do nothing, don't drive the car in the cold or snow (have other cars, keeping the car salt-free is good, but the 'cold' season is long up here). 2. Get snow tires on rims (must install early and leave on late for the 'cold' bit, under 45°, $$$). 3. Get all season tires on rims (better for the merely 'cold' periods and on bare roads, fine for me in snow if caught out, $$$). 4. Get all season tires, mount on stock rims, sell summer tires (simple except for the 'selling' part, fine for me if caught out in snow, $ or $$).

I'm leaning towards option 3 - two sets of wheels, summer and all-season. (Notes: I have a two-post lift for changing mounted tires. '$$$' is $2057, minimum, per TireRack.com - not that bad.)

RN1144 / ordered January 27, 2021 / Long range / Red / Cream / 19-inch / I’ll drive, thank you / Est. delivery: September 12 - September 18 (on a train), Mt. Kisco, VIN 441XXX.

I'm in the same boat. I originally ordered without FSD, but then after reading all about the upcoming Beta releases and the possibility the system may actual somewhat work, I decided it would be wise to add it onto my order now at the $10k price point, under the assumption that if it does release and is useful the price will likely rise again. I figured I could always cancel it right up until I take delivery (which I still believe should be possible). So for me, it was simply an insurance policy in case (somehow) it actually is useful and the price rises between now and December when I get my car (hopefully).

I did have FSD on my last MS (2020 Raven), but I only paid $7k for it back then, and I did enjoy it (especially the auto lane change feature). I'm a classic early adopter, and the thought of having this feature improve over time fascinated me. When I sold my 2020 MS, I do think I recouped some portion of the $7k I had spent via a higher price.

I can confirm that Tesla has determined that my LR was delivered with the wrong tires, Pirelli summer tires, and that I’m in the process of getting them replaced at no cost with AS tires, presumably Continentals. They offered me the opportunity to come in today to swap, but my car is still at the detailer for tint/PPF/ceramic, so I had to reschedule to the next available appointment, 9/27. Let me know if you want to see any of the exchanges with Tesla or n this topic. I’ve posted them several times but happy to DM them to you. Good luck!

Canada update
I’m in Vancouver. Just got an email advising me to wire transfer the payment and VIN assigned. Delivery date Sept. 11-18. Is that how we must pay now? Wire transfer before delivery? No bank draft on pickup?

MSM, Black 19“ ordered in Feb 2021

QUESTION: I want to change the trunk TESLA badge to silver letters on blaclick to match the logo. Where can I buy this?

I would be very interested in seeing your correspondence. My SC has told me I need to buy AS tires elsewhere, have them delivered to them and they would charge me to mount and balance them. They don't want the original Pirelli summer tires. I can't store them, so they would probably end up in a land fill. What a waste, not to mention the pollution.

Great... EDD went blank this morning again....LR, white on white, 19", no FSD. Was showing Dec 12 to Jan 11th for the last few days - not like I am checking every hour...Ok maybe once every few hours...
I’m very close to you so I’m guessing it has to do with our region. What was your order month ans first couple digits of your reservation number?
