2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

I uploaded an insurance card to my profile under "Next Steps" - Its the card for the car I'll be trading in.

I wanted to see if anything could improve my delivery date as we now close in on eight months of the wait game.

Since the date ranges re-appeared for everyone a few days ago, my dates have been bouncing around between October and November.

Woke up this morning to a date range of 16 Aug - 28 Aug from yesterday's Nov 02 - Nov 22 range.

No VIN yet, however, and I fully expect the dates to disappoint tomorrow.

On the other hand, the LR MY I have as a backup order expanded into Nov-Dec from October.

We'll have to see what tomorrow brings...

So, I spoke with my SA in Walnut Creek again and he again reiterated to ignore the EDD's. He said they (TESLA), have been getting an overwhelming amount of complaints with very irate customers regarding the lack of communication and blank EDD's. My current EDD is AUG 14th - AUG 24th. The date keeps bumping up by one day since last week. He told me that he sees my car is still in production planning, so it would be impossible to get my car anytime soon. He said Tesla has given these EDD's to everyone to help curb all the overwhelming complaints. He also has been very wrong with info throughout this terrible process, so, I sure hope he is wrong with this one too. This has really screwed up a lot of people with life planning. This is for the LR with the 19's.

Walnut Creek. Just up the road from Fremont. I could easily see a car making that delivery window.

What's interesting is not just the earliest date but the time between earliest and latest.

Mine: 9 day range
Nickogero: 10 day range
Aramos: 13 day range
fldude: 20 day range

I'm more curious how the range is determined rather than the dates themselves
Same. Mine started at 14, now down to 7!

I’m scheduled for delivery tomorrow. I get a call from the delivery specialist asking for updated insurance card and registration. No big deal, so I send them right away. I ask if the car has arrived and is everything good to go. He says yes, and I’m relieved. Then an hour later the phone rings. He says during the pre delivery inspection, they noticed some paint over spray on the rocker panel and they need to send it off to the body shop. According to him, it will take a few weeks. I’m like heck no, I ain’t playing this game. I’ll take delivery and drop it off when the body shop is ready. He says he has to ask to ensure it’s not a safety issue. He comes back and says it’s not, and he will see me tomorrow. THIS is why I’m not physically letting go of my current model S until
I actually have possession of the new one. I’ve read too many horror stories here of fools selling their car with the promise of delivery…the countdown is under hours now!

Wow, so this SA is saying they are just giving out meaningless EDD to quiet us down? Wait till we find out those EDD are meaningless if they really are.

It is suspicious that all of a sudden they issue all these EDDs in a matter of few days after an outcry. Did they suddenly get parts? Suddenly find a way to build so many cars? Taking shortcuts or this SA is correct, the EDD is just a trick to placate us for a while?

Got a email from Tesla saying to check my EDD. Have checked it for the last 4 days and no change in dates. Sold my 15 S 70 D in June thinking it would be 6 -8 more weeks. What a mistake that was. When ordering the 15 they missed the EDD by 4 days. Nothing like over promise and under deliver. If there was not a $10K price increase I would have canceled my order and reordered to take delivery in 22. It will be interesting to see what prices do after the first of the year. I am thinking this is to stop cancelations to get a new model year to reduce depreciation what Tesla has.

Noticed most of the cars parked in the dirt along the railroad tracks are now gone.

(See 1:16 into 8/4/21 video above)
(See 0:50 in this 7/5/21 video)
(See 1:12 in this 6/30/21 video)

I've watched a few of those and that dirt area gets emptied and refilled fairly regularly.

It's the "temp lot" that still has tons of model S from the June days still sitting there...

Very good point. Now that I’ve bought a new car to get me through the wait, I’d very likely cancel and get a 2022 when they are being built to order. But being $10k below the current price, and likely more price increases coming given the rapid increase in inflation we are seeing throughout the economy, it just doesn’t pencil. No doubt Tesla considered that when making the two recent price increases.
