DCU was stupid because im self employed and they cant read Tax returns (161 pages) lol. So they declined me in underwriting. I called Tesla they opened up the finance app and got approved in minutes 100% (not taxes/fees) @ 2.49%...
Im just going to pay it off in 2-3 months when everything settles with selling the car to Get me the vin. They offered me $46k for the Model 3.

Pick up set for Saturday 10am now. Heard back from my SA, Born on date is 11/15/21. Was not declined, the person assigned put their order on hold. Lets see on Saturday how it checks out!

DCU best rate for EV is 1.49% up to 65 months and 1.24% with direct deposit. The most important thing with them is to call as soon as you’ve uploaded all your docs including MVPA. Then they will work on your loan with final approval and documentation on the spot. They are very good to work with, but you have to call, don’t wait or assume they will contact you to process loan.

boa didn't need a vin to get me pre-approved. Does DCA offer better rate?

pretty cheap. I THINK DCA is 1.99% and then take off another .5% if you do their direct deposit. i'm not sure what you need for that to happen - i can have my payroll send $$$$ to a DCA checking account, not sure if the car payment alone would be enough or if they need more - joys of self employment - and if you don't keep the direct deposit going i think they will summarily bump you up to the 1.99% number which is still great - and i think the spread is about $10 or $16 a month on the S, so better than a sharp stick in the eye, but not worth losing too much sleep over

Loan questions.

(1) Initially got approved using tesla finance, but get a much better rate from BOA this week. How do I switch my loan application (guess my SA has to do sth on her end) to use boa loan?
(2) Do I just bring the down payment (cashier's check) and the rest (in the form of casher's check from boa) when taking the delivery?

TIA
Yes. Call Tesla and tell them you are going to third party financing and give them the bank name.

Also confirm with them that you will bring cashiers check for loan and your portion. That’s it.

Good luck!!

Well was supposed to take delivery today at 10am, pick up from the factory. Signed the agreements yesterday in the app, send the funds through plaid Tuesday. At 9:45am received a text stating I was rescheduled for noon then at 11am received a text stating 4pm (each time the time changed, it did so in the app as well). Now my app and account show tomorrow at 5:00pm and the agreements signed reverted back to unavailable. Account still shows paid and as of last night the 1-888 I called said the car was just waiting for final inspection 🙄 no one else has called back, SA or the numbers that text me (510 area codes).

November 2021. RN1160. But I was very flexible in terms of what I want - essentially I was open to any MSLR that wasn't red. It's better to build a relationship with an SA than just order online.
You got lucky my SA can care less about Tesla I haven't heard from her since June and even then she was clueless about everything. I knew more about my order reading this forum than from my SA. Forgot to add I had to call multiple times in june to even get in reach she never replied to my text.

I got 1.74% from DCU for 65 months without the direct deposit discount.

Note: They subtract 0.25% for an EV discount.

With DCU there is a $100 referral bonus for those receiving a referral. For the one giving out the referral, it is $50. Also you can qualify for membership by donating some money to one of the charities.

Usually takes about 2+ hours to get them to return you call. Very busy place.
Probably depends on the time of day and day of the week. I called them about 8:30am (EDT) on Monday morning. I sat on hold for a few minutes and they offered the call back service which I selected figuring they might call back in an hour or two. They called me back 3 minutes later and I had a live agent on the line in about 5 minutes. Spoke proper English and was very helpful. We spent about an hour finalizing the loan and then finished the call. They sent me the contract link with docs to be signed before noon. I saved a pdf of the contract to read before signing.

I went for the 1.24%. They give you 90 days to set up the direct deposit. If not setup within 90 days, it will default to 1.74%. I did set-up a savings account before my call and funded it with my Mastercard ($250 max). You also need to set up a checking account with them for the direct deposit.

FWIW They pay 6% on a savings account fully funded with $1000. I plan to leave that with them even if I don't take their loan. I'll probably sign the loan docs early next week unless I change my mind and skip the loan.

I had the great thrill to take delivery of my MS on Wednesday afternoon. Too much work the last 2 days for day light pictures, but I thought I'd share my observations about taking delivery at Tesla, Buena Park, in Orange Co, CA.

First off the Tesla staff were friendly and helpful but are adhering to the "touch less delivery" plan. I was only in the office to drop off my bank's DFR and tap the "Pay" button in Plaid. I did that after a 15-minute "big things" inspection of the car. Well, maybe it was 17 minutes cause I spent the first two staring in awe and pinching myself!

After payment I spent 2+ hours looking for everything you good people on this site taught me to look for:
  • Paint: nearly flawless, even in all hidden spaces. One tiny "pimple" on left rear fender. Undecided if I want Tesla to try and "fix" it. No scuffs or scrapes (California advantage?)
  • Accessories provided: 100%. 2 fobs (paired), all floor mats, all three trunk partitions, tow hook, "Model S" tag frame, USB drive in glovebox (sucker's kinda hard to put back)
  • Tires: my 19" rims had the Pirelli P Zero summer tires (preserving those precious All-Seasons for east of the Rockies). BTW, the Tempest wheel covers look so much better in person than on the web.
  • Mileage: 24 mi on the odo. Seemed a bit high for a factory-fresh car. The Tesla guy said something about a new off-sight storage lot so the car got some road miles. They allow themselves up to 100 mi on a "new" car.
  • Software: delivered with v10.2 (2021.40.6)
  • Panel gaps and weather seals: seemingly all perfect.
  • Door handles: sit flush and move smooth as silk
  • Windows: Did have the glitch where one rear window wouldn't auto-close, but the trick (from this website) to hold the button down for 5 seconds then up for 5 seconds fixed it.
  • Rattles / buzzing / vibration: none in the 75 miles I've put on the car. I do have the soft "coo-ing" sound from the climate control (assume it's "in-spec")
  • Ports: No fear, 100% USB sockets, the 12V plug, and phone chargers are all installed and working
  • Worm: Can see it if I look for it, but definitely not an issue nor distracting
  • Interior trim alignment (rear doors to back panels) is very good
  • Charge port door: instant response to charger wand
Before leaving, I mentioned to the staff that the paper plate hadn't been put on the car. The frame and screws were there, so I asked to borrow a screwdriver. The attendant jumped into action and installed the tag on the car for me. An overall great, unrushed delivery experience for THE ultimate driving machine. I wish you all the same!

So quick update for everyone, was able to talk to my delivery specialist. She called me around 4pm and informed me that my delivery was delayed due to a software issue during the final inspection. It requires the software to be reinstalled so it’ll take a few hours.

Fortunately she was able to schedule a delivery to my business (about 13 miles away) free of charge tomorrow between 10am and 4pm lol (the other option would be a 24 hour pick up window). My account shows my address and directions I gave her to access my lot, so let’s see if this holds true. The new agreements with tomorrow’s date were available and have been signed. Everything is good to go 🤞

Congrats!! I am getting delivery soon at the same location!
Question, were you able to ask for all season tires? I saw you said you were going to save it, so they were provided as extra?

Yup same as me. I have the most useless SA who doesn't know what's going on in Tesla while theirs some in here that have SA that go above and beyond for you. Honestly you have to be lucky. If anyone knows how to request an SA change I would like to know.
