2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

Definitely taking it off.
But I have another Model S with white interior I'm waiting on.
I plan to sell this one if that other order is delivered on time. Hence not taking off the bracket yet.
I'm planning to buy this to mount the front plate since in CA it's required - SnapPlate Model S Removable Front License Plate Mount
Exactly...front plate's mandatory. So when would you pop off the snap plate? For photo shoots and track days? Seems like quite a bit of trouble and expense for 1% of the time in your car.

Even with snap plate always on, it still looks better than the factory installed hideous bracket.
Also, from what I've heard, cops don't pull you over for a front plate missing. But you can get a ticket while your vehicle is parked. So, I plan to use the snap plate only when I plan to park on the street, where there's a good probability of catching a cop's eye.

Ok, so I had an EDD 12/22-12/31, then just bumped to march-april a few days ago. I emailed my delivery specialist asking if he had any details on the change and any update on new EDD. His response - "Thank you for reaching out. I am happy to report I was able to find a vehicle being produced at our factory matching your configuration and was able to match it to your account! " My EDD promptly updated to 12/18-12/22. For a brief moment my account showed a VIN that had an MF. I only saw it once and now my account shows no VIN, even with the chrome VIN finder extension.
Today I get this from the same Tesla Delivery Specialist, "Quick update on your order - I was reached out to by someone at our factory who mentioned the Model S on your account will be at the factory for a bit for additional testing."

This all sounds fishy to me. Maybe a rejected car or some other problem? I'm curious what folks in this forum think. Thanks!!

Sounds like some rejected one. I had the same edd push.Tried to contact my SA and no response. Don’t think the delivery is gonna happen this month.

that's the part that confuses me. did they switch over on 11/1/21, 11/15/21, was your car in production in say, october and then completed in november? not sure these are really relevant or important, but that's what goes through what passes for my mind.
I imagine they can install a VIN right up until the installation of the windshield (and frankly, could remove a windshield and install then, but that would be silly) - i originally thought the VIN was attached to the frame when production though the line started, but I frankly have no idea, and can imagine a car getting up to the windshield part without a VIN and using some other sort of tracking, though to me assigning a VIN at least to the car makes sense.
Yes, the VIN is also stamped into the frame in some obvious, and NOT so obvious, locations, AFAIK.

Changing VIN's would be effectively impossible, and likely illegal/unethical.

I called Tesla yesterday since my EDD is Dec24th to 31st and I did not receive any VIN. The Tesla guy on the phone mentioned that I might be a backup in case someone from my area with similar config is assigned a VIN. Sigh. Looks like I’m not getting my Tesla this year.
My EDD has moved to 1/8-2/5 from 12/24-12/31 😭 this morning.

Pretty much.

In 30 years of CA driving/living, the only time ticketed for no front plates was when parked at LAX. Easy pickings for revenue by ‘parking patrol’. Otherwise they don’t bother. Even if pulled over for something else.

Snap on for public parking? Absolutely.
Daily use? Nope.

So this time I managed to get to work without the car shutting down and having to be towed.
So they didn’t tell me that when I spoke to management when they were trying to get out of refusing the car. But I found they needed to replace not the inverter but the main rear driving unit. Luckily and abnormally they had parts in stock and fixed it. My wife still thinks I should have refused it but they promised if another major problem occurs very soon they will have to start the Tesla buy back lemon car crap thing process and get me a new one. However for now I get my $2750winter wheel and tires for free.
Anyways again I managed to get to work in downtown chicago today beautiful ride and car compared to the p85. Now comes the valet part. I told the guy do you know how to drive this thing he goes yes very confidently and I asked how do you shift he fever using the lever. I told him there is no lever so I drove the car and parked it. However how will that go everytime we need to valet especially in down town chicago. Will see.

Wow this is so surreal! I received a VIN this morning! Ordered May 17th. MSM/white interior/19/noFSD.

NF VIN. The car was built on 12/15. Edd window is 12/18-12/24. Went to the link to schedule the pick up but the earliest available pick up is Monday. Called an SA they said they will call the pick up location(Sunnyvale,CA) to get the car ready for this weekend.

Now sitting here waiting for someone from Sunnyvale to call me while im on the phone with insurance. Still cant believe this is happening.
That bodes well for MSM folks that they are currently on a MSM run of cars.. Hope my Jan EDD sticks then after they deliver to CA folks EoQ... Surreal as well hopefully after my 4/10 order.....

Look what I got this morning! MY VIN!!!!!

Seven months ago, I placed my order. Three days ago, my EDD was Jan 13 - Feb 10. Two days ago, my EDD was Dec 27 - Dec 31. Today, my EDD is Dec 22 - Dec 28, and I have my VIN. :)

And still I'm afraid to get my hopes up. It ain't over 'til it's over. 😰

Two days ago, I reported the above, in which I received my VIN.

This morning, my VIN is gone, yet my delivery appointment hasn't budged.

Tesla is playing with my brain. I called the main number, and the guy gave me some questionable explanation about a system failure that was assigning VINs for cars that hadn't left the factory yet. At this point, I don't trust the app, the EDD, or anything that Tesla tells me.

Tesla giveth my VIN, and Tesla taketh it away. :(

I'm just circling back around for all those waiting to recieve their new refresh Tesla Model S Long Range. I took delivery on 12/6/21 and immediatley sent it to the shop for some accessory work while I headed out of town. I still only have ~90 miles on the car. The delivery process was a bit challanging, however, the new Tesla, my first, is an amazing ride…with lots of technology… It's not perfect, but is fun to drive, sneaky fast and a compliment magnet. My Tesla was pretty good all around with only a very few minor issues... I can't wait to get some miles on it. Stay faithful folks...the car, I beleive, is worth the wait and the Tesla is clearly one of the market inovators and leaders...View attachment 745030
I assume those calipers were powder coated? Where did you have them done?

Refused my delivery… first it was delayed due to broken windshield. Took a week then I showed up at the appointment time, but no one told me it was again pushed back for a hour and a half. Apparently a door handle wasn’t functioning properly. So they made me wait longer. Finally They pulled the car out and I found bunch of paint issues. Some paint already peeled off and one dent they did a terrible touch up job which I suspect was damaged during windshield repair.

Not a good feeling at all about the car. Terrible wait, lack of communication and experience as usual. Back to waiting.
