2022.20.8 lost USB audio source?

You could try low level formatting the USB or scanning it for errors. If it comes back clean, this was just a file system corruption (perhaps done by the car) and you can reuse the drive. If it has persistent errors, then it was just a coincidence that it failed at the same time the software was updated.
 
Also, keep in mind that USB sticks are not rated to work in the automotive temperature range. They often work fine, until they don't. I strongly recommend using SD Drives (with an adapter) as these are rated for automotive temperatures (very high/low). Cabin temps can easily go beyond 140F in the sun, and the drive internally heats up an additional 10-20F.
