2022 Model S Sound System Quality

So I'm rather disappointed in my 2022 Model S LR sound system and subjectively feel that something is wrong with it. It sounds dead and flat compared to the immersive experience I get when sitting in my 2020 Model Y LR. I've had several Tesla Technicians listen to it and they all say it sounds OK to them. Any suggestions on how to get it professionally evaluated by a third party?

I think I need find an audio testing sound track or something designed to isolate the different ranges and channels. Please advise..

Anyone have luck using active noise cancellation? It seems to do absolutely nothing in my plaid.

I can't tell any difference but leave it on just the same. Maybe it is more noticeable at higher volumes.

Leave it off. It’s junk, and often introduces weird howling/ thrumming sounds depending on the road. I suspect Tesla will remove the feature from new cars at some point as it’s fundamentally pointless in its implementation in these cars. Would love to have a chat with the engineering team that green-lit this. It’s hilariously broken.

I feel the same about my 21’ MSLR compared to my wife’s 22 MYP. Especially since I retrofitted the Austin Parcel shelf in her car. Much richer sound compared to the S.

Sad thing is they nerfed the subwoofer the 2023. The bass sucks compared to the 2021. No idea why they did that

Umm I have had both. I had service evaluate it and they told me "it's operating like the other 2023s. The bass is just less in the new ones".

I'm really dubious about this, to be honest. This is the first I've heard about it.

I’m going to try to find a 2023 to demo. I’ll see if it has 80 mph vibration and less Bass subwoofer

My 21 Plaid sounds better than my 23 MYP. That's just my ears. Both sound quite good compared to most cars.

I can't tell if ANC is doing anything.

Yes it does. It’s not even close. And ANC (well, ARNR) doesn’t work, - just an fyi.

It used to not work for me, but a couple of updates ago, it absolutely positively works now to significantly reduce tire noise. It's very noticeable when I cycle the setting on and off at highway speeds when the radio volume is off.

I do have extremely good hearing, so that may be why some people don't think it works since the noises it cancels is outside of their hearing range.

I will have to say that the sound system in my ‘22 Model S absolutely blows away any system I’ve ever experienced, including the B&W in our Volvo S90. Amazing range and punch, and one of the top 3 things I love about the car.

Which software version are you on now? I will admit I’m only on 2022.7.20 since that’s the latest FSD branch.

If it doesn't work for you when you get the new version, make sure to get your hearing checked before blaming the car.

Believe it is functional in my 22X. Interior sounds much quieter when in the front drivers seat than in the rear (middle) row seats.

Also noticed that Tesla has integrated Sony Atmos into their sound systems. Cool.
