2023 Model Y Unacceptable Build Quality and Issues

Hello All!
I want to share my experience with the delivery of my Model Y yesterday (1/25/2023) a Burbank CA.
The car was parked outside and the agent asked me to look around, I started seeing cosmetics issues, Paint bleeding, Scratches, Misalignment, wiring harness and others. The agent mentioned that since we are at a service center, all (or most) this can be fixed immediately. After I took delivery, and was ready to leave, he pointed me to the direction of the service center and asked to turn left at the end of the road. When I reached the entrance I was stopped and was told that I was given the wrong info and I will have to create a ticket and submitted it and a schedule a service date. I went back in and the delivery agent now tells me that he told me that they will address my concerns but it depends on them when. I made some noise and they send a service specialist to help me create the service request, take photos etc. She did help me to get an appointment for 2/4/2023 and was told that I will get a loaner with unlimited miles and free supercharging. I left and as i got of the freeway, I could feel the steering vibrating at speeds above 60. It is pretty pronounced and I can feel it through the seat and my hands and neck start to hurt because of the constant shaking. I got home and added another this item to the service ticket and it now moved my date to 2/11/2023.
I called in to get a closer date but the agent I spoke to couldn't care less and told me it should be OK to drive the car with the vibrations. I repeated what he had said to me and he confirmed his previous statement. I asked to talk to manager or someone who could help me, but he would not give me an email address or phone number and said he will put in a request for a manger to call me back.

I have attached some photos.

Thanks

...I have attached some photos....
I would not pay unless those were fixed first. Now that you paid for that terrible quality, your options are limited: Insist Tesla to fix those issues or litigation, which will have a very slim success (you have to go through arbitration or a judge-for-hire system first). There is currently no new car refund policy.

...What build plant was this? I don't know how they didn't catch that crap at factory tbh.
It doesn't matter when it's built. Tesla emphasizes quantity over quality. I assume most are fine, but for the few that are not, Tesla doesn't want to fix them until you pay them first.

Only when Tesla changes its practice, that's when will you not see that lousy quality anymore (They would fix them before showing them to anyone.)

so you would have to reject delivery and do another to get another one or accept delivery and wait almost a full year for tesla to fix their horrible build?

I have seen a lot of posts / threads like this, and have to say that this looks like one of the worst I have seen. Most of the time, its people pointing out flaws that, while they exist, are of the "look, right here, see this thing here" variety that you dont notice until someone points it out. In this case, I would have absolutely rejected that vehicle if it was something they were trying to deliver to me.

Wishing the OP the best in them getting it sorted out in a way they find acceptable.

He’s already taken delivery and is awaiting the service appt.

That sucks your car was delivered with so many problems..

You indicated in your post that the service appt is in November.. That’s insane!! is it really, or is that a typo? If not, where is the Tesla center located? What city?

I assume your steering vibration is related to tire balance, hopefully. I recommend you go to a tire shop to have it assessed and fixed.. Balancing your tires is not expensive. Then request reimbursement from Tesla…. although I doubt they will reimburse you.

That has to be a typo, there is no way a service appointment would be 10 months out. I am guessing that its supposed to be february 4th, but given that this OP only has a few posts (1 in this thread, and 3 others in 2019 when they stated they tried to buy a CPO model S), I wonder if we will ever hear the resolution on this.

So sorry to see these build quality problems. Stevie Wonder could have conducted better quality control.
There is NO excuse. They seem to just be building them as fast as they can with no qc to keep them from
getting on the delivery trucks.
I had a 2021 Model Y LR but sold it and bought a 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 which turned out to be a big mistake.
The 12v battery died on my I5 and it has been in the shop since Oct. 31. It is still there, and I have a lemon law
claim pending. Was thinking of going back with another MY but after seeing so many qc issues on the forum,
I'm afraid to get back into the water. I'm really confused, as I would be super upset if I was unlucky enough
to have issues that would cause me to deal with online reservation making for repairs. This system sucks that
you can't speak with a human. What has happened to the normal way things should work? It seems owners have
accepted this treatment, so it will continue. Everyone says it stinks, yet nothing changes, and people keep buying Teslas.
I am looking at other cars that have a more normal delivery system, higher qc, and less headaches in ownership.

Another future problem I see is that they are selling tons of new Teslas, but not building any additional service centers (in my area),
so the existing ones will get that much more crowded, with longer waits for repairs.
Hyundai service sucks so that leaves out another Ioniq 5 or Kia EV6 for me.

Well, if you want to go EV, Tesla is still the best bet.

Luckily, my MYP had zero issues upon delivery. 1000m in, a rattle started somewhere in back that I have to look into/problem solve, maybe schedule service.

It’s our first EV and it’s taken some getting used to, but it’s been really enjoyable and we’re glad we bought it.

Once your issues are fixed, I hope you are able to enjoy the car!
