21" Arachnid Rims on Model X - Load Ratings

So I looked at my brand new Referral Rims and they now have a load rating stamp of 750kg per rim which equates to 1,653.47 lbs. Prior threads stated that Model X was too heavy for the Arachnid Rims, but looking at the new set of rims it can handle up to 6,613 lbs.

My Model X 90D 2017 GVWR per the door jam sticker is 6660lbs. So let's just say, I remove some weight and fix the offset to 35 can I put Arachnids on my Model X?

I also need clarification if the GVWR noted on the door includes the stock 20" Slipstream rims & tires which weigh in at 130.4lbs. The Arachnid rims weigh 105.7 lbs, 24.7 lbs, so if there is a reduction of rim weight the GVWR would be 6660lbs - 24.7 = 6635.3, so only need additional 22.3 lbs of weight reduction to make it work? Anyone know what I can remove to make it work?? lol

Here are the specs for the Arachnids:

• Size: 21X8.5" front, 21X9.0" rear.
• Offset: +40 front, +40 rear
• PCD: 5X120
• Center Bore: 64.1mm

Here are the specs of the 20" Slipstreams:

• Size: 20X9.0"(front), 20x10.0"(rear) Note: Tesla later changed rear wheel to 20x9.5"+35
• Offset: +35 (front & rear)
• PCD: 5X120
• Center Bore: 64.1mm
• Lug Nut Specs: 13/16, 14X1.50 Thread

No.

You need to look at the GAWR FRT and RR ratings. Rear Arachnids are rated at 750kg and front (smaller) at 638kg, and these happen to exactly match Model S rear and front axle ratings (divided by 2), respectively. But the GAWRs for Model X are significantly higher and the Arachnids would be grossly underspec if you put them on the X, which is why they are only approved for the S. (And this large deficit in weight rating holds even if you happened to use 4 of the larger size wheel).

Trust me. I want to do them on my X too but I can't risk the load ratings with it. I am getting the 22's instead of arachnids. You can sell them and get 22's. Sell the arachnids for $4k and buy some turbines for like $3k.

i agree with this bit...the car weighs roughly 5531lbs for the P100D, 5421lbs. for the 100D, 5381lbs. for the P90D, 5257lbs for 90D & 5185lbs. for the 75D.

i drive 95% of the time by myself and periodically with 1 or 2 passengers and even with the occasional full load i'd barely be hitting 6600lbs. i can't tow as i don't have that package either.

i've been wanting to do this from the day a saw the gorgeous Black Arachnids.

GAWR, GVWR, GCWR are all ratings stating capacity, but that's just to cover a Manufacturer in case of misuse, neglect, etc...

let me know if you can get those Arachnids on the X!

But I don’t think it’s a good measure to see if a wheel would work for a certain car. Each front wheel is rated at 650kg and each rear is rated at 750kg totaling over 6100lbs. So the actual wheels can definitely handle the weight. Just wouldn’t be good for towing.

The main goal is to have something less boring then the 20” air streams but just as efficient as far as energy. Don’t like the idea of losing 10% or more in range!! Will monitor the energy usage with these wheels. If it doesn’t work, will wear the tires out and move on to something new.

Silver Arachnids are selling for ~ $2,600 in SoCal now, not $4,000. I just bought a set of brand new mounted & balanced Arachnids with Michelin PSS tires, TPMS for my 2015 P85DL two weeks ago... and have had 2 SoCal sellers offer me their Arachnids for $2,600.

What exactly is the minimum load rating required for the front and rear wheels. Looking at some rotary forged wheels and they all are 1650 load rated each front and rear
