I've wanted this feature so bad for years now, I'm actually joined this forum and others to add my voice to the pleas for it. Dash cam will be very cool, but I'd take bird's eye all day long over that (I get dash cam works with existing cameras whereas this would require new ones - just saying though).
Every new car above $20k should have this! My Nissan Leaf did and it was one of my absolute favorite features (top 5) of that relatively inexpensive car (can't be that expensive if a little Leaf had it). Other than a Tesla, I won't buy a car without this. All the new Fords have it now, Audi's too, and many, many others. It's wonderful and too bad Tesla didn't incorporate this with their big camera upgrade.
Once you've had and used this, you'll always want it. Especially to help the all too dreaded curb rash when parking given how easy it is to tear up Tesla rims. And it's ridiculous to suggest that auto park alleviates this - I never use that feature and until Tesla's are fully autonomous I never will (WAY too slow vs. just parking manually) and it will many years before this happens for regulatory and ethics reasons. Feels like buying a car without a cup holder, electric windows, or a back-up camera.
* Come on Elon - read this thread and work your magic because we all know it's a fantastic feature! Regardless, you da' man and thanks for my absolutely amazing car (M3P) and the Model S P85 before it!!! Never enjoyed driving more in my life than the last 5 years with Tesla's. Keep it up and ignore the multitude of naysayers. Constructive criticism is fine, but those guys are the dearth of society and not even worth acknowledging. You always give us something exciting to look forward to so thanks again!
