3M Crystalline - 20 or 40

40% still looks good in Crystalline. I think their brochure compares how much Total Solar Energy is rejected. Crystalline 40 is 60% solar rejected and Crystalline 20 is 62% solar rejected.

I have to admit I usually tint my windows a bit dark...the last one was 5% but now with aging eyes maybe the 20 or 40 will be easier to see out of. I heard Crystalline has good clarity from inside the vehicle. I have not seen it for myself.

By the way how dark can we go on the driver's door? I was thinking 70 as it looks somewhat clear.

Final Decision:

3M Crystalline

70 Front side windows
20 Rear side windows
20 Back window in one piece
40 on sunroof / glass above driver
Nothing on Front windshield

So far the windows are easy to see out of during the day. I have not tried it at night but with my back up camera it should be easy. Fresno gets super hot so you can’t go wrong tinting your windows lol. The contrast between the back roof and the roof above the drivers head looks similar. In my picture I think the camera flash makes the drivers roof appear a lot lighter.

The Crystalline 40 would have looked nice too but I am used to tinting my windows a bit darker. No more 5% for my aging eyes but 20 not too bad.

Thanks to everyone that chimed in.

Looks good, update me with how you like it and the heat rejection.

I like it a lot. I don’t feel any heat over my head at all. It was 105 today in Fresno and it felt good. The good thing about Crystalline is you don’t need to get such a dark tint to get good heat rejection. It does change the look of the panoramic roof if you go too dark. If you love your view then get no lower than 50 IMO. I think I would have gotten the sunroof portion in 70 or 50. I might change it but for now it’s good.

Your car looks good ;), I was scared to tint the back glass for fear of visibility. I think I may tint mine now after seeing yours.

Thanks! During the day Crystalline 20 no problem seeing out of back window but at night it is a bit difficult for parking BUT thanks to the back up camera it’s easy. If you are worried about this then probably get Crystalline 40 or 50 for the back window. I am sure someone can share a pic of the 40 or 50 from the inside.

For the sunroof or pano roof the darker you go the increase in reflection. It’s kind of like a mirror.

How much did you spend on all this?

How much did you spend on all this?

I did not spend much because the Certified 3M installer in my area is a family friend. This tint job would go easily about $800-? Without a group buy.

I have every window tinted except my windshield. He wanted to do my windshield for the same cost lol. I wear polarized glasses and I just like the normal view out my windshield.

I have never had ceramic tint so first time.

I would admit to get a good installer via reviews and recommendations from this forum. I have been hearing the installer makes all the difference.

I'm pretty settled on 60 on the front but for the rear I'm in between 20 and 40 still. 40 looks a bit too light (and maybe not enough contrast with the front), but 20 would be a tad dark. I'm thinking of mixing/matching brands and maybe finding a 30% tint for the rear side windows/back window. Any thoughts?

30 seems to be the sweet spot. I don’t think they have in Crystalline but you can find in a different brand or other. The
sunroof portion is 40 and it is too dark. I would recommend nothing or 70 if you like your view.

Good luck
