But then you could get the new blue! ;)
And that, in a nutshell, is my predicament! :crying:

I agree there. Pricing is one thing, but to not allow a color change for an order that otherwise remains the same and isn't even locked does not put the customer first. Note that I don't expect Tesla to put the customer first, but it would be nice without really impacting anything for just a simple color change. Perhaps beeeerock could write an email to Jerome asking if they would be goodwill willing to apply Ocean Blue to his car (he is paying $1k for blue after all anyways) and otherwise leave the order changed?
It's presumably not a big deal given the colour is out in public now - clearly they have the paint shop set up. I've got MC Red in my order, but a lighter blue tone would be nice to have instead... the darker blue was just too dark for my tastes. I might write a letter (email) tonight if I decide I really do prefer the blue... Haven't seen enough photos to judge just how much lighter it actually is!

If I can't opt out of the fee, it shouldn't be itemised out.
The only excuse for charging a destination fee would be if you can avoid it by picking up at the factory. (Which we know is not the case)

These added mandatory fees are one of the big complaints with the traditional car dealer model, Tesla was supposed to be different.

I completely agree. It's like when I stay in a hotel, and they tack on a mandatory resort fee. It's misleading and dishonest.

I was able to do a $500 change fee for my MS60 (Pearl White) to change it to an MS70D in Warm Silver Metallic. Since I had tech and supercharger already, it ended up being the same price (actually cheaper, but then the $500 change fee brought it back to effectively the same price). Was no different than any other change. I'm happy (although my wife thinks they should have let us change paint color for free as a goodwill gesture..but alas, that's not the deal). So basically it was $500 change fee == change what you want, and everything gets repriced based on the new pricing and options structure.

On another note, I was going to get the Ocean Blue. It looks REALLY nice in the pictures, but looking at the paint sample in store (well, in the daylight outside the store) it just wasn't markedly different than the existing blue. A little lighter, but not "wow, nice blue!" kind of lighter IMHO. My showroom had a 70D in Warm Silver Metallic, which looked REALLY nice when we drove it out to a sunny part of the parking lot.

Since I'm within my week time-frame before my order's locked in, I'm really confused about this. Redesigning my car shows me the old options, but I think (I need to play around some more) that the new options make my config a couple thousand dollars cheaper. Do I need to cancel and re-order to get the new pricing? Do I lose my $2500 if I do that in the first week?

Probably not a couple thousand dollars cheaper unless you have already noticed and adjusted for the fact that delivery charge is now a $1200 add-on now instead of $1170 included in price.
If your configuration included Tech Package, changing will lose you automatic lift gate, door handle lights (puddle lights) and cornering lights, so if those were important to you, it might be best not to change.

Your Product Specialist can help you to change at no charge within the week.

I saw Ocean Blue on a color standard at the store. In shade it looks only slightly lighter than the dark blue, in sunlight it is much lighter and with pronounced metallic flake.
