Weird that they cite (according to google translate) its according to an interview with foreign media. I feel like it's quite possibly just broken telephone between news of the 400-mile roadster battery and the regular third party "battery breakthrough" claims

Could be. But at the very least this one is associated with reference to Tesla directly instead of all the other things we have seen in the past regarding such battery shifts in that they are always saying "new battery tech... will Tesla use it?" type comments, but this one is a bit different... unless Google translate is just translating the wording and intention all wrong... Anyone fluent to translate it properly for us or at the very least confirm the intent and wording behind the article? Also how reputable is this news source?

The last time I heard Elon talking directly about the question of 500 miles it was this that he said in response:

Graphene is amazing. Been following it for a while.

It's like the 60's all over again:

That looks like a scene from The Graduate. A bit before my time but a definite classic!

Actually a lot what article say makes sense.

QUOTE:graphene. Because it has a low resistivity, electron transport fast, large surface area and good conductive performance characteristics, scientists considered ideal lithium ion battery electrode materials. <-- this is true. I did posted a link to paper that showed excellent properties of graphene as electrode material. Much higher energy density, power density, longevity. And looks like graphene could be produced cheaply. Well at least two 100 ton per year plus plants are already entered mass production phase.

Hope they based their report on insider info from Tesla-Lishen negotiations:smile:

BTW, reference to interview with foreign media was about Musk remark when he claimed that Tesla would be able to produce 500 mile EV soon... Where they've got graphene part is unclear, not a lot of buzz going on around graphen in li-ion batteries. Well at least not in Western medias.
