Tesla recalls 53,000 Model S and Model X cars for parking brake issue
Woah, ease up on the details there Columbo.
Edit: now my joke sucks since the article has been filled in. <sad face>
Short version: no safety risk. 3rd-party part supplier is covering the cost. Recalls expected to complete in October.
haha at the time it was CNBC breaking news and only had a headline with "details to come." The link is now updated with a full story."
Like Zaxxon said, apparently no safety concern. Seems per-emptive much like the seat belt (I believe) recall a year or so ago.
Has anyone gotten the notice via snail mail yet?
Just received this today
Got my letter in the mail. The wording is more dire in it. Talks about brakes not releasing rendering car inoperable, or rolling away when parked.
The letter says that the parts won't be available until October 2017. I wonder why it takes so long to get parts when they are the same parts that are presently being installed other Model S cars?
Anyone else notice they've integrated the park brake with the regular brake on some of the newest models? It's now a singular caliper design. Might have something to do with the recall.
