Yes, the latest VIN decoder only differentiates rear and dual motor. Drive units are are the same, so that is reasonable.

Insurance companies also inquire about/ track trim versions of vehicles (not shown in VIN), so this is not a new situation for them. Historically, ludicrous was not a different VIN digit.

My interpretation is that the poster was remarking at how quickly the VINs are shooting up.
