6-50 plug only charging at 120v

I have a 6-50 plug with a TMC plugged into it. The car is only charging at 120v. I think it used to charge at 220 but I’m not positive. What are the likely causes?

I don’t know that it matters but when the car is plugged it sounds like the TMC engages and then disengages. Eg sound like a relay flips twice. I’ve tried another tmc and m3 with the same result… so I suspect the plug or wiring.

Perhaps you should take a look at the outlet wiring and make sure its not damaged / burnt etc. If thats not something you are capable of doing, then you should hire an electrician to come out and look at it.

I certainly wouldnt charge on that circuit until I figured out what was wrong.

If you have a multimeter and know how to use one the first step would be to measure voltage at the outlet from hot 1 to hot 2 and then each hot leg to ground.

If that’s all Greek to you then the first step would be to call someone that understands the above.

Sounds like it is wired wrong. There really isn't any other way for this to happen.

If I had to guess, you have one hot, one neutral, and one ground instead of two hots and a ground.
