The wait is bad enough. The inconsistency in target delivery estimates and the lack of clarity as to who to call makes it worse.

There is a role called "delivery manager" at the showroom. Ask your order advisor who that person is, and work with them.

New update - was finally able to get ahold of my internal delivery assistant. I have much better clarity now and assuming no issues with the vehicle as it comes off the line, likely get it mid-December (fingers crossed - we know how this can change). He was nice enough to walk through some contingency planning which was comforting. Spoke with the showroom folks and seeing the same on the website, seems like Tesla is stating orders up till Nov 30 will be expedited for delivery by the end of the calendar year. Based on the Google Docs tracking, seems to be the case as we get closer to the end of the quarter. Will keep rolling the dice. Seems like this whole experience is intended to either mentally harden a person or break them...lol.

Final update - delivered today 12/7! Very satisfied with the vehicle, no defects that I could see (or at least bother me). Just to summarize my experience:

(1) Ordering online was uneventful (10/25). Received finance estimate next morning and asked to reply to confirm. Replied with confirmation, no response...and so begins the journey.
(2) Three days later, vehicle confirmed.
(3) Received notification that VIN assigned on 11/6 and provided contact information for internal delivery specialist. Emailed delivery specialist. No response. Was provided a tentative delivery date of January 7, 2019.
(4) Called Tesla customer support asking if there's anyone to help with my question about the delivery date and also confirming a quote for a trade-in. They message the internal delivery assistant, no response. Told this is "normal".
(5) Called again, asking for clarification and needing information from the internal delivery specialist. Finally get an email from the specialist calming the situation stating he see's the vehicle should finish production by 12/8 (yay!).
(6) Called customer support again for an update, was told the 12/8 date was wrong, and it should be January 7 (OMG!). Escalated back to my internal delivery specialist, and he explains that everything is fluid, but assured me the vehicle will be completed by the end of December.
(7) Came back from a trip and got notification on the webpage that production started on/around 11/30.
(8) Production completed 12/2 and now shown "in transit". Sent an email to the internal delivery specialist that I see the good news on the website and if there was an updated delivery date (knowing transit time should be very short).
(9) Got an email on 12/3 from the delivery specialist confirming the web information. Vehicle expected to arrive at service center 12/4 and confirms delivery to be 12/7 at 4pm.
(10) Been around the block a few times now, so called customer service. They confirmed the delivery date of 12/7, BUT says the time of day is 1pm (WTH!?..whatever keep rolling with it).
(11) Arrived at 1250pm on 12/7. Service Center has no record of my appointment for pick up (...about to go ballistic), but they quickly say that the "folks in the back likely have the info". Now 110pm, the delivery folks in back come out saying the vehicle is here, but not detailed (whatever, its here!).
(12) Delivery specialist was nice, but took another 2 hours to get paperwork done. They then took me out for the show and tell. The staff were clearly nervous or just not confident in showing the product and forgot how to perform certain functions (wow!). It is what it is, but I didn't mind since the car was fine and I can figure the rest out.

Very happy with the vehicle..but geez...what a journey.

Got delivery today in Vancouver. Car is in flawless condition. No issues so far.

I was a little worried when I walked into the waiting room because I walked by a white model X waiting for delivery and from 20 feet away I could see some clear door alignment issues. I felt very lucky when someone else drove away in it and they brought mine around!

Overall my feedback is this:
  1. The wait:
    1. Original projected delivery date when I "built" the config in September on the website was November.
    2. After being in a "scheduled" state for 2mo I followed up with DS and they told me it'd be sometime mid to late December. About 1 full month longer. Disappointing, but OK.
    3. Delivery time from order was 80 days. That's about 20d longer than I was expecting.
  2. The delivery:
    1. Team at the delivery center was quick and friendly on the actual delivery day. Kudo's for them. They've got their process down.
    2. Delivery center downtown in Vancouver isn't as fancy-schmancy as one's seen on youtube videos. It's really just a small waiting room attached to a garage.
  3. Leading up to delivery: There were some issues with logistics and paperwork from Tesla.
    1. There was a bit of a rush to get paperwork done at the last minute before delivery.
    2. The price changes came in and DS said that I'd get the price changed. That'd save me $1000. It was not shown on the paperwork uploaded to the Tesla Account website.
    3. I'd coordinated the financing terms back in September over email but the financing paperwork uploaded to Tesla Account the day before delivery did not match what was discussed at the time I ordered the car.
    4. It took some last minute phone calls and emails right down to the wire, but on the morning of delivery the financing paperwork was corrected ... literally while I was at the bank getting the draft cheque. Talk about last minute!
Overall I found that a phone call to the owner adviser was the most effective way to get things moving. I got passed back and forth a few times between delivery specialists. One wasn't responsive, and the other wasn't super helpful. The Owner Adviser stuck with me through the process and I feel like he had a better handle on things overall.

Very happy to have finally received the car and am looking forward to enjoying it over the holidays!
