Elon said they are implementing some changes to reduce the variations that cause production challenges: No longer selling the 60 kWh in a dual motor version. No longer selling the P85 single motor version. Eliminating green and brown. PS - those who got the prior smaller sun visor: He said prior purchasers will be offered the improved sun visor. Elon did not say without charge.
60D and P85 was just canceled 60D cancelation was mentioned in Q3 earnings call and while I didnt notice P85 being mentioned, both options are now gone from design page. So we will have following versions available: S60 S85 S85D P85D
Green and brown were likely the least popular colors. Makes sense to drop them. Where I live I see multiple Tesla's every day. I rarely see green or brown.
They switched some other things around, too - for the S85, the D upgrade is now $5k, up from $4k. I didn't notice anything else, but I'm just going from memory. Walter
Removing colours is a mistake. On the other hand simplifying the dual/single motor choices in the lineup makes a lot of sense. BTW brown was beautiful on this car ...
Elon also mentioned brown and green were leaving -- not sure if it's happened yet though. But yay for visors
Goodbye Brown and Green Elon just announced on the Q3 call that the colors were being discontinued. The Design Studio has already been updated. :crying:
Hopefully replaced with some other colours so we don't have Red, Grey, Basically Black x 4, Black and White.
There are plenty for sale right now  - - - Updated - - - They are gone, as are the other options mentioned.
Currently only 7 colors in the studio - the two whites, red, blue, silver, dark grey, and black. Walter
just checked my new order out and it's still confirmed with green. so it seems that they are honoring the already placed orders as configured......... at least for now!
I suspect we'll see some new colors soon. Gah, now I'm all tempted to see if I can find a new(ish) P85. Dammit.
Is this good or bad? Charging another $k for AWD (something included?), making people get the 85 to get the D, and really making people pay for the P. Trying to drive transaction price up again?
Perhaps the color removals are in part to make room on the production line for model x signature colors?
