72AMP charging on Model X 60D

If the car was new at that date, it's a hardware change and needs to be swapped out for the 72 Amp version at a Service Center. The option seems to have evaporated from the online catalog but we've seen that 'some' SC's will still do it. The story seems to be that you ask nicely and if they want to do it, they will. Very puzzling why it's hit or miss. It used to be a normal 'after sales' upgrade.

It was never a normal "after sales" upgrade. You're thinking of installing a second charger (dual chargers) in the pre-facelift Model S.

It is a hardware upgrade and takes about 2-3 hours. Our SC did not have it in stock, however if you ask them to find one from another SC they will. For some reason, not explained to us, the SC could not order the hardware from Fremont, CA.
