The Federal tax credit forms seems to be pre printed with a $2500 credit. Everyone including Tesla mentions $7500.

What am I reading wrong?

You missed this note:

Next: If you did NOT use your vehicle for business or investment purposes and did not have a credit from a partnership or S corporation, skip Part II and go to Part III. All others, go to Part II.

Also, on Part III, the $2,500 maximum only applies to two- and three-wheeled vehicles.
