So far I get that people don't like that money is being made by this method. And that the amount is high for entry. But I ask you all this question, isn't the lottery kinda the same thing?

Odds are extremely low, in the millions to one compare to 700. Although the cost is just $2.

So would everyone who answer change their mind if 20% of the proceeds go to a charity?

Keep in mind that out of 175k at least 86 goes to buying the x to begin with.
You never answered my question. Are you willing to paypal me $250? It's only $250. I'll also put 20% to charity.

And I don't play the lottery, it's a tax on the mathematically challenged.

I'm going to be honest and give you the answer I would if I was face with the event. If the this was layout in front. With all the same rules as above. Here what I would do.

1. I would pay the 250 and consider it a gamble with a lost in mind ( like when you go to the casino). With a chance own an x for 250, who cares how much I have to pay to get it taxes and register, I still got a huge discount off the car.

2. Knowing that if all 700 ticket does not get sold, I can get my money back.

3. Charity is great, but Honestly if I enter the in the drawing, is not because of the charity, but the greed owning an x for 250.

4. So what if the person or organization is making money, as long someone is guarantee to win, ( could be me)

5. 700:1 is not a bad odd in my opinion.

Again this was all for fun due to the fact that last year I saw this raffle just like this. I was bum out that, one I didn't live in the state that was running it. Two I knew that I would be willing to give up my 250 for a long shot that I could own x. And in the end some one very lucky own and x for 250. That was me being honest with my self.

That is why I wanted to ask the forum and see what others feel if it wasn't for charity!

I don't like the coin flip, because there is to many up and down. If you offer me in the condition of what was lay out I would do it, provided that there is guarantee that someone is going to win. Your offer to me was so you can take just my money without doing any work.

if you are offering this: I'm all in!

1. I don't care what the game is as long as there is a clear winner at the end.
2. 250 per entry if entry don't get fill then full refund.
3. 1 winner is pick and payout 86k (1:512 odd)

lmao, it's the same concept.

Too many ups and downs? It's math, it's odds, it's the same thing if I roll a die or play the lotto.

1. 9 coin flips (I don't care if we do all heads, or randomly chose what they are, same odds)
2. 400 entries minimum, or no one plays. No upper limit to the amount of people playing. First come, first serve
3. $86k payout to the first person to win.

If no one wins on round 1, everyone gets a free round 2 (and so on)

Are you in now? I structured my scheme lotto the same you did!

I'm sorry but what your offering is not the same thing.

no second round, no third round. (just one round)

1 pick and someone is a winner guarantee.

My entry has a clear winner and profit, Your entry has you as the clear winner and all the entries has a chance to win but not guarantee a winner. You could run this game 30 times before you have you pay someone for real.

If I were to run this 30 time, there will be 30 model x owner's. And that is why I would enter it my self if all the rules apply.

we are talking about two different aspect. All I have done was remove the (charity from the raffle drawing)

This is just a question to the forum, not actually going to happen.
If this were purely a hypothetical poll, why not offer a brand new Model X into the fray rather than a used one with 5,000 miles? Including this data point seems to indicate that there's an actual used Model X involved and that either you or someone you know is trying to gauge public interest in such a raffle.
Assuming no laws are broken: fully legal
Also assuming not a scam?: fully legitimate

So Khanhvngo, I guess the moral of the story here is:

a) If you enter a raffle, and you believe in the charity behind it then by all means go for it. Most raffles don't even buy the prize themselves, the prize is donated, so the charity gets to keep all of the money.

b) If you don't believe in the charity, and you're entering just for the prize, there are easy and legal ways that will give you MUCH better odds of winning the same amount that you can win through a raffle.

I'd pay $350 a ticket, so long as there were a maximum of 500 tickets. That's better odds than 9 coin flips!
Are you still planning on driving your X during the raffle? If you get up to 6k miles I don't think I'd be interested anymore.

I'm clearly having fun here.
Khanhvngo, charities are one thing... Lotteries for personal gain are another entirely and not something people appreciate.

All hypothetical of course.

I agree with deonb, I don't think you understand math.

My scam also has a guaranteed winner. It just might take 10 minutes instead of 30 seconds for someone to win.

$250 for a ticket? I would not. $100 for a ticket - I might.

I'll make a better raffle offer now. Everyone paypal me $10. No limit or requirement on the amount of tickets sold. After I conduct the private drawing, I'll tell you if you won a Model S or not. ;)
