On a whim, I decided to cut a version of kenriko's door buttons in red with the goal of making it more obvious. I'm hoping that it will prevent passengers from using the manual release and make it easier for me to explain how to open the door (press the red button). I used red to match the exterior color but I'm not convinced, and may redo it in a matte grey to match the dash trim.

thats a funny red button you have there above the door release. Is this the emergency door release?
The emergency door release is below the door opening button, so this red sticker is supposed to draw peoples eye to it, presumably so people don't accidentally reach for the wrong handle, and instead use the button.

it looks great but the red might send the message to avoid it, making people go for the real emergency latch which looks like what you're supposed to use.
i put packing tape over mine to try and cover any gap before covering the entire thing with the wrap.

I was actually thinking of doing the opposite - putting a red or yellow wrap on the emergency release, with some sort of "emergency" symbol or label on it
I have to figure out something for this too. I do a lot of meetups (driving strangers) so I'm dreading having to explain opening the door over and over. I'm thinking about doing something with the exterior handle too. Maybe a "push here" sticker haha.

I think the best way to get people to use the button is to put a sign with an arrow pointing to the button that says "don't push this button".

In all my drives, I have had only one time someone press the emergency release. Its not at all conspicuous. No one has found its existence.

I've been sitting on this photoshop for awhile. I was inspired by the BMW i8 indicator on their car. Will at some point reach out to someone who cuts vinyl to print it out for me.

What I don't understand is why Tesla needed two different opening mechanisms in the first place. Other manufacturers have built cars with frameless windows for a long time, and they all somehow manage to design mechanical releases that work without power in emergency situations, but still roll down the windows fast enough to avoid damage in normal operation. That doesn't seem to be so difficult.
