Maybe, but I don't hear "It's A Small World" playing in the background
Are you sure? It's not much of a stretch to apply that song to climate change, EVs over fossil fuels, etc/

It's a world of laughter
A world of tears
It's a world of hopes
And a world of fears
There's so much that we share
That it's time we're aware
It's a small world after all

It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small, small world

A year ago, I signed up for what I thought looked like a nice car, to be delivered - "in about a year".

It's easy enough to check the wayback machine for a year ago and see that you've misremembered the delivery estimate:

Now stop that, you’re ruining his fictional complaint by using facts, that’s not fair

;)

Just spotted this:
I also mention that Tesla is expected to deliver in total 10k cars in 2018 in my country.

By "10k cars in 2018 in my country" I gather brakar's hell is not in the US, so his estimate would have been even later than the one shown in the historical page I posted from the US website. I tried to check the history of check www.tesla.com/en_CA/model3, as I think Canada's was next in line, but wayback didn't capture those pages.

To sum it up for my part:
I see myself as one kind of typical car buyer; I can afford mostly any car I want, but cars isn't really the biggest of my interests, so I usually go for a no frills car. I am also used to decide what car I want, then go to the car shop and buy the car I have decided to go for. Then I usually get the car in a month or two.

Hence, my "Tesla experience" so far have definitely been a new experience. Pay deposit, wait one year + one year delay. I have actually not cancelled the M3 yet, but I see it as unlikely there will be a M3 for me.

There are however more reasons for this:
1. The price for my decired configuration will not be even close to the 35K that was indicated as a starting price.
2. Actual price will probably be closer to (in my view) more desirable EVs like Jags, Porsches, Mercedeses, Volvos, VWs which will be available more or less at the same time as the M3.
3. From producers that CAN produce cars and holds what they promise
4. Who do also deliver proper guarantees and do have proper service centers. (Tesla is known to be worst in class on both where I live).

I also mention that Tesla is expected to deliver in total 10k cars in 2018 in my country. About the same as VW golf EV. (1/5 of total EV sales).

So sorry Elon, thanks for inviting to the party, but sorry you wasn't able to show up the actual day. I do wish you and your disciples all the best!
Was just about to say this. Even at the higher price point, my wife thinks the Model X was worth every penny we paid for it. This is from someone who drove a 2006 Accord forever.

New Roadster for me if "I can afford mostly any car I want".

"No frills" makes even reserving a Model 3 a dumb move. Personally not a fan of those who really stick to $35k config and not a penny more - what a waste of AP hardware suite.

Would like to suggest an edit to post title:

nice one! why don't you make that post? don't be so shy

Well, if you guessed; "in about a year" you guessed right.

Respectfully here, but you're more than welcome to try to start your own EV company and bring such a quality car to scale, quicker. I get it, its frustrating, I am a day 1 reservationist, but come on... no one has done something of this complexity, to scale.

At least you can't accuse Tesla of changing their tune.

Dude, have you been following EV industry for the last few years ? All the car manufacturers you list have promised umpteen models & shown umpteen concept cars - only to do nothing about it for years.

Second, most of them would not be producing EVs but for Tesla.

misremember???

like i allready said, my complaint is that a year after I was told my car was to be delivered in a year - I was informed by tesla the car was to be delivered in a year. (a year later than what tesla originally informed).

Yes, misremembered. You said you signed up a year ago. An historical archive of Tesla's web site from a year ago clearly shows an estimate, not a promise mind you, of "Mid 2018 or later". No matter how you try to spin it, February 2018 is well before mid 2018.

Changing the world takes time, and if you're Elon Musk, it takes longer than you think.
Just be patient, he is making things happen as fast as he can, even if he grossly underestimates his timelines.

Shows up a year late to the party, complains to those still in line ahead of him.
