the main reason is that autonomous without EV is not very useful as the cost to operate an ice would be 2-3 as much with gas and maintenance and could be more if the EV fueled by solar. The ice autonomous just can't compete.

Not sure where you live but, in our neck of the woods, EV charging stations (other than Tesla) charge as much or more for electricity as the gas stations charge for fuel. That's never going to persuade ICE enthusiasts to switch to EV vehicles.

This brings up a good point. Currently, the supercharger pricing above 400 kWh will be priced according to local utility rates and rules. If and when TSLA is using solar islands to generate it's own power for the superchargers, do the ultility rates and rules apply? I don't know, asking.
