A stone on a driveway dented rocker.

I got an estimate from authorized shop for $4,600 and estimates from local (not Tesla authorized) reputable shops for about $1,000... Not sure what to do. Is it too risky to go with good local shops? The rocker has a small dent below the passenger door. Please help me decide.

Just make sure to read reviews and make sure they are insured. Nothing amazing about the rocker panel that needs a Tesla specialist.

Another option might be to just buy a set of side skirts for cheap. There are a few options available. Pretty much they are just carbon fiber rocker panel covers that look cool. They normally stick on with 3m tape.

I'd prob buy the side skirts.

Go to one of the companies that pull-out dents. They can probably make it look great for $100. Any scratch in the paint looks like it will be low enough that it isn't visible or can be touched up.

If you are paying out of pocket, I'd go for the $1,000.00

Any decent body shop can fix that.

But I would get details of how they plan to do it. And check reviews carefully.

Note that matching white can be tricky. Even for Tesla Authorized Shops.

I would definitely get that fixed.

Oh, regarding Subject title. I don't think a Stone Dented you, You drove into a bolder ;)

Dent-less repair won't work there. Those places work from back and they do amazing work.
They would have drill holes, pull and fill. Or replace the whole piece.

Dunno, they told me they removed the plastic black panel on bottom, massaged the steel panel from the back, and then painted it. Whether they used bondo to fill, I don't know.
Most likely it's bondo, but that's not a bad thing unless they just caked it on which I doubt. It'd be insanely time consuming to massage it back by hand. You'd just pound it back enough to get it to close to shape as possible then bondo and sand.
