AAA unveils first electric vehicle charging stations

Very forward thinking on AAA's part. As a long time member, I'm pleased.

From ABC Action News: AAA unveils first EV charging stations in Tampa Bay area

The level II charging stations with 240 volts will allow consumers to "top off" their vehicle's charge in 30 to 60 minutes. The two EV charging stations can charge up to four vehicles.

Tampa is one of six new cities selected to receive 100 electric vehicle (EV) Chargepoint® network charging stations to support the growing infrastructure of electric vehicles.

Are they worried about vandalism? It'd be a bummer to arrive a little late due to traffic if you were depending on it....

EV drivers will be able to charge their vehicles for free between 6:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.

I don't think they're worried about vandalism per se. They're probably more worried about folks plugging in their RV for the night or pitching a tent or something nearby.

At what current? I assume around 30A.

Yep, looks like 30A is the max for ChargePoint stations. Hey, better than 120/16 eh?
