The only thing is DON'T GO BEYOND YOUR MEANS. If you're coming from a Honda Accord and are stretching for Model 3 SR+, it's fine since the overall ownership cost is around the same or slightly lower (assuming your insurance company agrees). I know someone showered himself with a performance, sure it's fun to drive, but he was close to be forced to sell his car because of the monthly payments and insurance was more than anticipated, AKA outside of his budget.
Other than that, you'll love this car. Even SR+ will leave 99% of other cars in the dust when starting from stop.

hlin07 has hit a huge sticking point. I couldn't have said it better. For an overall experience, the Model 3 Long Range is probably the best model with most of the benefits of the performance without some of the minor shortcomings of the SR+.

Other than that:
1) Test drive one and make sure Regen is at the highest setting
2) Stay in contact with your SA
3) FSD used to be cheaper when you ordered it ahead of time, that is no longer the case.
4) When evaluating your charging situation, I would recommend against getting a Tesla wall connector. If you need more than a standard outlet, have an electrician install a NEMA 14-50 in your garage or wherever you put your car.

the performance will save me about 400 in a care payment lol

I agree with all the above. I recently went from a 2020 SR+ to a 2021 LR. My payment did jump up $200 a month about so I cut some monthly bills out in order to make sure I would be fine with the payment.

In my opinion, skip FSD as well, as Elon answered a tweet not too long ago stating it would start to be a subscription based thing early 2021. Would be worth it then for the times used like long trips, etc IMO.

But are you allowed to use it without touching the steering wheel? If not, it's hardly any different than AP. You're basically paying 10 grand to show off the car can come to you. And then there's the issue when you sell the car, Tesla cancels it on the new owner.

In my case, I'm buying my wife the M3 LR, and in white, and 18 wheels, so only paying for white interior, which is a must IMO, especially in hot TX, and with no seat ventilation. You get the incredible sound system, AWD, barely decent range (IMO), and a nice interior. If you can swing the difference, it'd the best value for your money IMO. I ordered mine Dec 14, and could have picked it up Dec 24, but my wife can't make it, so will pick it up on the 28th. Still, a 2 week wait from ordering to delivery, should be close to a record for a fresh from the factory car :). Good luck.

Glad to hear I’m not the only crazy person moving form a 2020 to a 2021 :D

All great advice in this thread. The only thing I’ve ever really wanted from FSD was NoA and maybe self parking. Just isn’t worth $10K to me.

Go ahead and figure out your charging situation now. Don’t be like me trying to plug your car with a 70+ KWH battery pack into a wall outlet for three weeks.

Ask questions, either of your delivery specialist or here on this forum. Most of the Tesla folks are super helpful and there’s great info here.
