Adapter for chargepoint

What kind of adapter do I need for charging my 2018 Model 3 at a chargepoint station? Does a Model 3 come with one?

ChargePoint supplies a few different kinds of connectors. J1772, CHAdeMO, and CCS. Teslas originally come with a J1772 adapter, but if you purchased your vehicle 2nd hand it may not have been with the vehicle. You can purchase one on Tesla's store.

Tesla no longer sells the CHAdeMO adapter in North America. Sometimes they are available 2nd hand online. It is available in other parts of the world - here's the Australia store link. I would not purchase it internationally.

CCS1 is the new 'public' standard for North America. Tesla have an adapter but they are not selling it in North America yet. It is available in South Korea and some people in North America have imported it and successfully used it here. There is additional hardware required to be installed in the vehicle - some cars already have it from the factory, some do not. A 2018 Model 3 likely does not have it. Hopefully we will get the CCS adapter in North America soon and the hardware install will come along at that time. There are LOTS of discussion about this on this forum.

My 2021 SR+ does not have the required hardware for CCS. Built in July 2021. There is a place on the screen where you can find out if your car is equipped.
