I bought my model x without pup in March 2018. It was a showroom demo vehicle and it didn't come with adaptive headlights. They were able to install the adaptive headlights later during a service visit and it showed up as an option with a toggle in settings. After v9 upgrade I don't see any option in the settings for adaptive headlights anymore. I see a auto high beam option only. Anyone who has pup on your MX, Do you see an option for adaptive headlights after v9 upgrade? Anyone who had adaptive headlights retrofitted by Tesla after delivery, Do you see any option for adaptive headlights after v9 upgrade? I am wondering if it is just me and whether I should take it to service.
My car came with adaptive headlights (no retrofit) and there is no option to turn them on or off in V9. Always on. Are they working on your car? If so, I doubt you have a problem.
Same here on my X. I expect the story is now if you have them they are on always and if you don’t, there no point in a setting.
Do you mean headlights switch between full-beam, low-beam depending on day light, etc? If yes, mine has this (even in V9), but I don't have PUP.
Uh, if my memory serves me, and who knows these days, these are the ‘turning lights’ that some cars never had and were supposed to, and were retrofitted with if you bitched and moaned sufficiently. There was at least one epic thread about it. Auto-high beams are all software, more recently, and do have the switch. And were done by AP cameras.
Hi Mvbash, I got my X100D in March 2018 with PUP. There has never been a settings option for me for Adaptive headlights V8 or V9. An EASY test for you - Place and HOLD your foot on the brake pedal, put the car in Drive, and turn the steering wheel. Turn to the left if there is additional light on the left which disappears when steering returns to center - Adaptive headlights are installed and functional. Obviously, the test should also work turning to the right... Shawn
Also comes on in the direction of any turn signal. Both sides come on when in reverse. There is a speed limit over which they will not activate at all. It is fairly low like 20 mph, but not sure of the cutoff.
They aren’t really a big deal and don’t illuminate much extra on either side. No worries if you don’t have them.
First time that I am even hearing about these lights and I don't think I would care for them even if I happen to have them...ignorance is bliss I guess!
Agreed, that has been my experience with my mid-2017 X. I find them useful in dark parking lots and low speed sharp turns on poorly illuminated streets. Otherwise, not useful.
