I have a 12kW SunPower system with two Powerwalls (and a Span panel). Nothing about my installed required the Panelboard in the gateway, but I was wondering:
If I wanted to install an EVSE down the line in such a way that it NEVER draws from my Powerwalls then could I have the panelboard installed in my Gateway, connected to the non-backed up lugs, and then installed the EVSE breaker there?
I have hopes for the Span Drive down the line that it will be able to communicate to the Powerwalls to NOT supply power to the EVSE (i.e. it would look at total home load minus the EVSE and tell the Powerwalls to only provide that much power) but I'm not sure if or when that'll happen, but I know I never want to charge a car from Powerwalls.
