Aftermarket boot struts - slow?

Hoya, I have installed aftermarket struts on the Frunk and trunk to allow the boot to fully open rather than just “pop”. However, the boot opens about 30% of the way quickly and is then really slow to open the rest of the way.

mid this normal, or is it a defective strut/install? If so, I’ll buy another set (only £20!)

Apparently the gas piston jacks operate somewhat variably and are temperature (and manufacturer) dependent - some are good, some don't work or fail early, some are so strong the lid flies up and bounces at the end stop. Then of course you have to pull harder to close them. You always gets what you pays for and £20 is dirt cheap.

As an ever-so slightly biassed ;) owner and installer of electrically operated boot/froot lids, Mr H would endorse paying a lot more for a solid system that reliably opens and closes the boot/froot lids and can even be foot operated (kick detector).
Unfortunately it's a *lot* more than £20 a pop :(
