Airbag computer reset only by Tesla Service?

Hello,

If the airbags are activated and I replaced the activated airbags by another one does only Tesla Service reset the airbag computer? Or can I reprogramming it by myself?

I don't know specifically for Tesla, but typically you have to visit a dealer to have the airbag reset when replacing an airbag. I assume it would be the same with Tesla.

There are third party companies that you can send the SRS module to to get it reset. (At least they do them for the S&X.)

No, to be totaled the repair cost must be equal to or greater than some percentage of the car's actual cash value determined by state law (usually 75%, but sometimes all the way up to 100%). Usually if airbags deploy, the repair cost is huge, but not always.

Re OP: When my airbags were replaced by a Tesla Certified body shop, the vehicle was still sent to a Tesla Service Center for reprogramming of the airbags.
