Airco not functioning properly !!!

Hi,
I'm on holiday in Spain with my Tesla X.
It's between 30° and 35° Celsius out here, so quite hot.
And a proper functioning airco is no luxury here.
Problem is that when a drive for about 40 kms the airco stops functioning properly.
Whatever I do. If I put it on "auto"--> too hot in the car. If I switch off the "auto" and thus use it manually I get the same result. The airco just doesn't function as I would expect it to be.
I hear the airco making a lot of noise, but it gives me the impression that the cars needs the cold air to cool down the engine.
When the car stood still for half an hour, the airco functions normal and cools the car. It only appears after 40 kms or so.
Anyone any advice what I can be ? Or what I can do ?
I can go to the neares service center, which is 500 kms away....so not really an option.

Unfortunately, this may be your only option. The things you can do like check your filter don't seem to apply here and I don't think local AC companies would work on your model X. Besides, you will have to "show" them the behavior, especially if it cools fine after a sit. They will start it up and it will work fine. You almost have to take it to them after 40kms, when it is blowing hot air, so they can see and diagnose while experiencing the issue.

Few suggestions....Get a thermometer than can measure from 15C 35C if you can. Stick it in the vent and measure the temperature at the beginning of the drive and when you experience the issue. Also, each time you drive, take a note of the time and mileage when you leave (along with the internal vent temperature and external temperature if you can), and the time and mileage (and temperature) when it begins to get warm and report these findings in the app in a request for service. This may help them diagnose the issue. Then if you have to take it in, and it's a long wait until they can get you in, do the same thing for every drive until then so they have the historical data. Also, schedule the time early enough so when you arrive there, hopefully it's happening at that time and you can show the specialist when you drop it off. Make sure he/she notes it in your file.

Hope you get it worked out. Living in a warm climate myself, that would be a brutal way to get around.

I have a 2016 Model X that was one of the early production - number 569.
I had some issues with the Air Conditioning performance a year ago in August (like you are) and they looked at it and told me the lines to the condensor were installed wrong so they supposedly swapped them and corrected it under warranty. There is supposedly some internal Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) on this.
The AC seemed to work better but the heat of the summer was past us so i really could not compare performace.
Driving it this summer it seemed to do fine but was quite noisy. The noise kept getting worse as time went on.
Sure enough, last week sitting at a Supercharger the Air Conditioning Compressor basically failed. Lots of noise and vibration until i turned it off and kept it off.
I am driving with no AC right now.
I am scheduled to have the compressor replaced this week. We will see what the performance is.

One thing i found before the AC failed is that you seem to have to turn on the rear AC manually. I could never find it on in hot weather even with passengers back there.
And apparently in AUTO mode, the blower fans (front and rear) seem to want to run in very low speed. I like a little more air moving and manually adjust to a higher speed.

You have to deal with it (that's what I was told by two different Tesla service centers)...

When my X did the same thing last year, I drove to a nearby service center (we were about 300 miles from home on a vacation).. They said there's nothing you can do - just let the car sit (we had to let it sit for a few hours before the AC started working).. We were told at our nearby service center when we got home (after making an appointment and waiting a week) that the vehicle prioritizes cooling the battery, not the people...

My wife was around 8 months pregnant at that time, so, yeah, we had to wait for it to start working since there was no way we were going to be driving around without AC.
