Alarm function greyed out

The alarm function is greyed out. Am I missing something?
I'm not referring to the tilt or sentry options.

Mine is greyed out but in blue if you see what I mean, I take this to mean it is on and I cannot change it.

Hi, mines the same colour as other options before selection but it doesnt allow it to be selected.
I don't think its ON.

I think the logic behind it is - why would you turn the alarm off - given the fact that there are many options to switch off internal sensors etc. But if it’s not selectable then from an interface point of view it shouldn’t be there.

I don’t think you can completely switch the alarm off on any Thatcham certified car?

The ability to turn it off was disabled in a recent-ish update. As said above it doesn’t really make much sense that you can disable it really.

What about when travelling on a ferry? Often they ask you to disable so that all the cars don’t activate when the ferry moves.

You switch off tilt/intrusion.

^^ but only possible with sentry mode off, that confused me until I realised the logic / read the manual !

And how do you go about doing that? The manual indicates the path to be Controls > Safety & Security >Tilt/Intrusion, but on my 2019 M3 I don't see Tilt /Intrusion, even if I make sure that Sentry is not on as several posts have indicated. After I select Controls, I see only Safety, not Safety & Security.

Can someone please walk me through the process step-by-step? For those of us who take ferries from time to time, there must be a way to avoid triggering an alarm if the ferry is rolling and pitching as they often do...?

My Daughter's X had a window smashed, drivers door opened and various things taken (at the house, night time). The alarm was on throughout but didn't activate.

You’ve never been able to switch the alarm off in a 3/Y. In my 3 I could switch off tilt/intrusion (if Sentry is disabled), but in the Y there isn’t even as button for tilt/intrusion.

Sorry to hear that, if the car was locked then I would have hoped that they wouldn't be able to open doors from the inside except of course expecting the emergency opening to still work.

My understanding was that you can't disable Alarm in UK as permanently enabled was required for the insurance group rating.

Possibly. I’ve never had a car in the past 20 years or so where you can disable the whole alarm - only motion sensors.
