My MS 75D was delivered with a “wavy” dashboard on 9.29.17.

I reported it on 10.2.17 and today it was replaced with the dash that has the Alcantara piece.

I was browsing and searching the forums and it looks like this was discontinued?

The service advisor told me it was supposed to come with the Alcantara on the dash. They supposedly replaced it with a part based on my VIN.

I just wanted to clarify... not that it bothers me. My car finshes production on 9.12.17 if that helps.

    Thanks for any insight.

Yeah, recent cars don't have this, as far as I know. I know my September production X doesn't, and I thought S's stopped this with the summer changes also. They probably just used a stock part for you. If you like it, so much the better! :D

My Model S (picked up Sept 30th) doesn't have it either.

My new inventory Model S manufactured 8/2017 has the alcantara dash. I assume it was just left over inventory since they changed it. I feel like it was an added bonus so no complaints here.

And I was looking at the 'seam' on my X's dash today... and it looks like the front part (in front, meaning toward to driver, lol) is where the Alcantara used to be. Maybe. I need to find a pic of the old version and compare.

This is a bummer - that dash touch was nice!

Lucky you. Alcantara dash was a sign of premium package, so it's a bonus and looks good.

I actually don't care for the seam in the alcantara dash. Is the rest of the material leather (in older cars) or synthetic?

Your question doesn't even make sense. Sorry.

My dashboard has two materials, alcantera and something else that looks like whatever is on the doors. There is a seam between the two. I would have rather had all one material. Either material.

Anyway, it's ok if you don't know what I mean or what the other material is. I'll ask the service center next time I am in.

Krash, I just received a new S and the dash is constructed exactly the same, only materials differ. Seams are all in the same places.

Yeah, I can't tell from other photos online if there are any non seam dashboards. But some of the dashboards look like they only have one material even if there is a seam. Less is more.

Similarly I don't care for my carbon fiber dash. I would have rather had plain aluminum. Or black ash, but black ash wasn't an option on all black when I bought my car. I only ordered the carbon fiber because the brown wood looked worse on all black.

+1. Have a grey leather interior, with piano black, and black alcantara on the dash. Beautiful combination, but all of it is discontinued, and I'm not tempted by the new interior packs. Good for me, financially :).
