So I eventually got around to wrapping the wood dash trim in suede/alcantera. Total cost £17 and about a half hour of fitting.

This is what I used. Enough for two dash wraps:

That looks fantastic!
How did you fit it? Contact adhesive?
No, the wrap is self adhesive. Pretty easy to fit since the dash is a simple shape. You need a spludger tool (or a credit card) to flatten out the wrap and force it into the lip where the wood meets the plastic and then a sharp knife to cut it at that line. The only slightly tricky bit is doing the outside corner on the left and right at the back. But a little wedge cut will sort that and because the material is fluffy, any slight error here won’t be visible.

How close colour is it to the fabric on the door panels ? As I would be interested on a 22 model 3 with wood door trims too
It's a tiny bit darker, but not a big deal. It'll probably fade in time anyhow.

Regarding the door trims in later models - it seems that the wood inserts are not too hard to remove and wrap. Do a search on YT - there are some vids there showing it.

That looks good pdk42. Another Bimmerpost refuge here!

What’s that dashboard that you have, looks interesting?
It's the "Top Fit" display. I did a post about it here:
