Almost track ready MYP

Happy holidays everyone! My name is Justin and I am the proud owner of a 2021 MYP. I took delivery of my car back in May and wasted no time modifying it. Here is my current build:

As you can see, I've done quite a bit in a short amount of time. Honestly, there isn't much left to do! My goals for the car are: (1) make it as unique as possible (goal of getting it in a magazine), (2) daily driver to work (short commute) and (3) road race a few times a year. I have some older pictures that do not reflect everything that has been done to date, but will take more in January once the last set of mods have been installed. More to follow!

Nice build! I'm on the fence choosing between GT Touring and Performance Sport Rewood Motorsports coilovers. Can you briefly describe the ride characteristic of your Performance coilovers - damping settings, comparison to stock suspension, daily driving experience? Are you getting full stroke on the suspension when daily driving, adjusted to full or near full soft (25-32 clicks from full stiff). Really just trying to figure out if it might just be too sporty for daily driving, and really just meant more towards spirited driving.

Good morning! Thanks for the kind words! I had my coilovers set at 16 all around at initial install and haven’t touched them yet. I am very happy with the overall ride quality. Extreme difference from MYP suspension. I feel everything on the road, I know that some don’t like that, but that is what I am after. There are some pretty nice on/off ramps in my area and that I can take fairly aggressively. I do still have a bit of body roll that I am anticipating the UP coilovers to reaolve.

I am far from an expert in road racing nor very experienced with my type of coilovers, so it is very much a learning experience for me. I don’t anticipate going any softer than the current settings, but could gradually increase the stiffness.

My recommendation is to go with the Performance coilovers as you can certainly dial it in to your desired setup. Best of luck!

You don't really need sway bars cuz your stiffness is from your coils. Your build looks great, though a lot of body mods too much for my taste. If it were me I'd drop all the exterior bits and plunk down that cash towards the AP Racing big brake kit. Thanks for your feedback! My current tire diameter is within an inch of stock. I could have used a 45 sidewall and almost matched stock diameter, but I am not interested in that much sidewall. My car is first and foremost for show, hence the significant money spent on the full body kit and the other things. I will track the car a time or two a year, and even then I am not chasing any records. At the end of the day, I have a pretty badass Tesla that gets a ton of compliments.

Hmm, I would look into it some because your motors will be running at a higher rpm and there's a limit to it so it's best to know how much you can get away with.

Don’t get me wrong, I hear what you are saying, but am not overly concerned. I first put a 35 profile tire on and that was almost 2” smaller diameter than stock. I have seen many other people on this forum run smaller profile tires, so I am not out in left field by myself.

However you want to run your setup is your choice, but I'd have to stop you there regarding this being something many other users do. That's flat out not true. You cannot just swap aspect ratios at will. A 35 aspect ratio is paired with the 21" wheel which will equate to 28in circumference. With a 20in wheel to achieve the same 28in circumference the correct aspect is 40, and so on to 19in with 45. Doing what you do you will be over driving the motors by my guesstimate of 8%. My guess is that you will create problems with the motors, electrics, inverter etc etc.

Good morning! Thank you kindly for the positive feedback. The pictures I posted were in the initial stages and don’t reflect everything I have bought. It is looking like the remaining items will be installed sometime in January. I will take a bunch of pictures thereafter. Are you asking if I previously had the MPP coilovers? If so, no, I went from stock suspension to the Ohlins. Have a nice day!
