Hey Tesla developers, if you read this, why not adding streamed radios to the audio sources? This would allow getting all FM stations, plus many others.

I listen to my favorite NPR station (San Francisco) on TuneIn. Nice that it never fades out regardless of where I'm driving (I live out of range of the transmitter.)

As @ucmndd points out, TuneIn gets you streamed radios from anywhere in the world for free and is already in your car.

i think you should note that it only applies to people who have the unlimited premium connectivity, which i guess would apply to all who do the retrofit.

But may not apply to people who purchase the car CPO.

We don’t have TuneIn in Europe! That means they should maybe just enable it.
Yes, all MCU1s have unlimited premium connectivity. But why wouldn’t this apply to subscription premium connectivity?

Tesla could provide a great replacement to AM/FM/HD radio and XM by providing a combination of streaming apps and then integrating them to use a single interface to navigate between stations provided by the various apps. Since a single app doesn't have all of the stations, it will require multiple apps - and Tesla can help considerably by allowing stations to be searched across apps.

Another challenge is access to live sports programming - which is usually blocked from streaming. Premium subscriptions to services like TuneIn or XM should provide that access. The current Tesla software doesn't support TuneIn Premium.

From a development standpoint, it's much simpler for Tesla to provide an option for adding the MCU2 radio to the infotainment upgrade.

Though longer term, Tesla could reduce vehicle cost by eliminating the radio for all vehicles and replacing that with an easy-to-use interface to enough streaming apps to provide a full replacement for radio, which will work except in areas with poor or no internet service.

TuneIn was #1 10 years ago (I subscribed as a premium user), but when iHeart Media pulled their stations to push their own app, iHeartRadio, and Entercom pulled their stations off to move them to Radio.com, TuneIn sucks.

I've been saying for years that Tesla needs to add iHeartRadio and Radio.com. Those two hold something like 80% of the USA radio stations.... TuneIn no longer does.
