Hey everybody, I just completed a 4300 mile solo road trip in my Model 3 LR from West Texas to Redding CA - Medford OR - Oregon Coast- then to Long Beach CA and back home.
The car drove fantastic, using auto pilot I was able to drive for 22 hours on the first day. I spent the first night at Tejon Ranch CA then continued to Redding CA and spent a few days with my brother. Then went to my Parents for a few more days in Oregon. Everyone was pretty entertained by the car and FSD. My mom and dad have told me “I can see it being a good car for around town”, well they’ve now been convinced that a Tesla can be a great road trip car! I let my dad drive back from the coast, and he was blown away! “I get it, I get it” he kept saying. On the way back I decided to make a side trip to Long Beach for lunch and a walk on the beach.
I can’t believe how many chargers are in CA/AZ! I’m not used to being able to skip chargers, but I was able to use different superchargers on the way to and from Oregon! Kettleman was pretty cool, I sent my wife a picture..”I found a nest!”
Also the car was crazy efficient, 277wh/mi at 80mph. My MYP would have been 350+! The M3LR was perfectly synchronized to my bio tank. Total charging cost was just over $300.
Thanks everyone!
