Android Auto and/or Apple CarPlay, please

The problem is that if Tesla announce CarPlay and Android Auto connection today everyone on this forum would be up in arms. CarPlay requires a chip that the MCU does not have, so old cars can't use it. And AndroidAutos spec requirement is beyond the MCUs capability so again, older cars wouldn't get it. It could only ever be released to new cars.

And Carplay still requires QNX, which Tesla ain't gonna port to.

What chip does it require? My understanding is the only thing sent is the video from the phone + some sort of touchscreen control channel.
