ANOTHER price increase (5/21)

You're waiting for two things that may or may not happen. The $10k incentive might never see the light of day, or it might be implemented next month. Ride quality is not even something Tesla or Elon has even mentioned to be working on. But there's been several improvements to Model Y over the last 14 months it's been out. New heat pump, new center console, new double glazed glass, more range, and many other "under the hood" changes, so to speak.

I suggest, if the Model Y fits your needs and budget, you order it now, before another price increase and just set delivery on hold until you're ready for pick up. Otherwise just buy something else if you need a car.

All the increases in price over time, while waiting for something that may never happen, could probably pay for some aftermarket mods to soften the ride. Just a thought...

Unless Elon specifically mentioned a refresh with a date to soften the ride, I would not be holding my breath waiting for one to arrive. And even if Elon did mention it, there is Elon time, which could be years from now. Just look at other promises that have come and gone since. FSD? Roadster 2.0 ?

My advice, buy the car now, modify it for softer ride, and enjoy it. I seriously doubt they will be modifying the suspension anytime soon. That would negate the need to upgrade to a MX/MS with air. Certain things they are going to only offer in their top of the line models like the MX/MS - trickling them down to the MY/M3 would erode sales of the MX/MS.

As many outlets have reported, there's no reason or explanation as to why Tesla increased their prices.... again (and there never is), but some things could play a factor....

- supposed $7k or $10 tax incentive that may never happen
- updated 4680 cells going into new models
- supply chain shortages & production cost increases
- Model 3 & Y's are sold out and Tesla is taking advantage of the situation and trying to rake in extra cash

e) All of the above

Realizing ppl want them so bad he can raise them back to intro prices.

I always find it amusing that the folks complaining about capitalism at work are (sometimes) the same folk that complain about "socialism."

Supply and demand. Period. That's what our basic economic system is all about.

I think the price increase this time is due to the factory hold issues.

What better way to calm people that have had to wait too long with no end in sight then to show them if they cancelled now they will have to pay more.

it’s pretty brilliant. It makes current ordered not cancel, it slows down new orders a bit because they can’t fill them, and also helps pay for the higher part costs.

Well, anyone buying now will know what it felt like to pay what I did back in June 2020, ~4 weeks before the price dropped $3K. And FSD was (only) $5K then, and I thought it was too much for what it offered. Guess Tesla found out there is no issue charging double that price for FSD and people still buy it.

I would pay $5k for FSD but not $10k.
Waiting to see if subscription make sense and if I can subscribe for just one month when I need it for a trip.
Otherwise I can drive myself locally.
