Another Prospective Model 3 Buyer Converted to Model Y!

Count me as another prospective Model 3 owner choosing Model Y instead. I placed an order on July 16 for a Model 3 Performance for a Q4 delivery. With plenty of time to think about my order and reassess my needs, I started looking into Model Y. The added utility, similarities to the Model 3, and the heat pump were all wins. After much research, I decided to finally test drive Model Y and it was very clear which car I preferred. I placed an order today on a Model Y in Midnight Silver Metallic, Black interior and 20" Induction wheels. Now for the waiting game...again! Any others switch from initially ordering Model 3 to Model Y? Would also be interested to hear from folks who had a Model 3 and moved to Model Y? What made you switch?

I bought a Model 3+ mid June to replace a Kia Niro hybrid as my going to town car. 60 miles round trip once a week. The 3 is great for highway driving and tight corners that we have on Highway 1 in Big Sur.

After a month we decided to go full electric sold my Toyota Tacoma and getting the Model Y for my utility work car for going up dirt roads and off road occasionally. This car will be low miles under 3k a year. The plan is keep the Y and trade in the the 3 for a cybertruck. I preordered and I'm #6300 on the waiting list so hopefully first wave of deliveries of the CT.

The Y is better car overall and more value for the money compared to 3 with similar setup and the hatch is the biggest draw for me.

I sold my 2019 LR AWD Model 3 last week after putting in an order for a LR AWD MY in late August. On top of simply liking the look of the MY more than the M3, the higher ride position, extra space, and tow hitch were the 3 main reason I decided to make the switch. Delivery is set for 9/22.
