Hopefully they mean it. Previously got the 6/2 "2 to 4 weeks to delivery" text. And now just got this text:

Tesla Update - We currently expect your Model Y to be built in the next 7 days. Once your Model Y starts moving to your delivery center, we will reach out to schedule your delivery appointment.

Please note that your delivery may be earlier than this estimation if a vehicle with your configuration becomes available.

It means nothing, I got the same message today, but I also got a text 13 days ago that said it would be build in the next 10 days. That came and passed.

Don't get your hopes up.

I have seen others say this too, which is why I think the text message is meaningless, just a way to keep us hooked in.

It also means that there is hope we can still get a vin sooner than later.

I got the 7 day text yesterday for an MSM/AWD/White/FSD . Not sure what wheel size as I have an order with each size (placed a backup order to see what would happen). I then got a delivery in 1-2 weeks text.

It's a safe assumption that no one at Tesla is getting perverse pleasure from toying with buyers' emotions.

The fact of the matter is that the mechanics of the production and delivery process is somewhat unpredictable and a certain amount of the unpredictability is caused by buyers changing their minds the last minute or having last-minute issues with loans or funds being ready, come delivery day. Tesla wants to maximize the end of quarter clearing out of the delivery pipeline and that is difficult to do when they are dealing with human buyers and the unpredictable nature of over-the-road transport.

It helps the process if most buyers have their dominoes in a row when the car is ready to be delivered. It doesn't take many 'flakes' to throw the entire process into turmoil so Tesla wants the buyers to be ready. On the other hand, it's really beyond Tesla's control if a contracted trucker either breaks down or otherwise misses the pick-up/delivery schedule. So the process can go wrong in either direction without any bad intent on anybody's part.

I got one yesterday (Sunday) Stating I should have my vehicle by the end of June. Checked my Tesla page and my MVPA had been loaded in. Previously I checked my source code on Friday and there was no VIN. White/White PUP no FSD. Ordered 2/23/20 VIN 14XXX

I received a text saying that "be ready for delivery near the end of June.". I'm cautiously optimistic (no VIN in account yet) since this is the first update I've received since I placed my order (5/22).

Should I start applying for financing now? Or should I wait till either VIN shows up or another text update (like build in 7/14 days)?
