Can we wait til April 1st?
This sentence is supposed to highlight the unlikeliness of success:
However, Nissan has built about 20,000 Leaf-s in its first year, by itself. Not combined with anything. Then, Tesla doesn't need to build them without hitches: that's what the current Q3 slow ramp-up is for, to deal with all those little problems. Elon said more than a hundred. This is not a we-think-there-wont-be-a-single-problem operation. They allocated a full 3 months to deal with resolving the problems. Part of the advantage of a slow ramp-up is that you won't need huge recalls if any are necessary.
So when/if that "1" of 50:1 happens, is he going to say Tesla was lucky, or admit that he didn't correctly portray the situation? I think the clue is the statement about "EV manufacturers combined are having a hard time getting to 7,500 units a year", which was already proven wrong, IMHO.
I wish his articles were on paper ....
So I can Burn them!!!
We already know that the Model S doesn't have a hitch. We'll have to wait for the Model X to do our towing....
Best assessment of JP yet. Although "clever, but sad" is close!
Will he accept 50:1 odds and back that up with real money to be held by a third party? I'd put down some money on that.
No, he won't, and he states so
And I just won't any more do him the favor to visit any of his blog posts, lest alone add a comment. He attracts much to much attention. Dissecting his foul arguments in the comments hasn't stopped him in any way.
Where's the "like" button on TMC?
He won't do 50:1 odds so we should suggest 100:1 I'll take some of that!
When Tesla delivers the 5,000 Model S by the end of the year (hopefully), and still has 8-10K reservations, maybe he'll move onto verbally assaulting his next victim (company). The best way to shutup a loudmouth like Peterson is with success and results.
You have my permission to harass him using my name in any way possible since I can't.
Hitch discussion went to Model S - Hitch discussion.
Petersen uses trouble at Knight Capital to breed fear about Tesla: Knight Capital Group: An Object Lesson In Emergency Financing - Seeking Alpha
KCG blew $440m in 45 minutes. TSLA spent $700m on R&D in 3 years. So the conclusion is...?
I guess he expects Tesla to need emergency financing and take a similar price hit because of it.
Why does Peterson have such a vendetta against Tesla? Did someone years ago run over his dog with a Roadster?
Petersen is just the flye in the ointment.
Hey, I resemble that remark!
He has deep ties to the oil industry as well as substantial investment in PbC battery technology from Axion, which might work for stop start but has no use in EV's. In other words a successful EV industry would cost him money.
