I'm wondering if there are any early Roadster batteries that are still working, and if so how's it doing?
Mine is 10 years. (Bulit 5 oct 2009) 7300miles, Sweden (cold). Mostly garagequeen. Very careful previous owner. Never rangecharged or driven hard. CAC 155,5 =190miles i std charge. So I would say as good as new.
Thanks LeoNordic! Great to hear the battery has held up so well, and thanks to you and all other Roadster owners for helping start the electric transport revolution. Any others?
A little over 9 years, 35k miles, range charge about 215 miles. I've have range charged numerous times and raced it about 20 days so some hard driving / charging between track sessions.
Coming up on 11 years on #113 (November 2008 build). All original powertrain. ~47K miles with ideal range of ~154 miles.
All info can be found here as long as everyone updates regularly. You can close this thread then. Battery Survey « Plug In America
that looks like a good potential source, but eyeballing the report, it's not very up-to-date. there's a lot of older updates . . . like maybe <10% of entries are from 2019
Just an update - I literally just finished range charging and it turned off at 224 ideal miles - that's 90%+ of the original range. I'll let it sit a few minutes before I take off.
I have #187 with 54k miles. Standard charge goes to 151 miles and range charge goes to about 200...haven't done that in a while. But, we all know YMMV
I have #82, 2009/10, first battery, pem upgraded 30'000km, range in Standard mode is 260 - 266km, in range mode it's 325km - 335km, I charge only 10A and use range mode once or twice a year.
Hi Sam, I have #785 delivered in December 2009. I replaced the battery with a refurbished one in 2015. (Battery depleted due to VMS failure.) It is mostly a garage queen although a daily driver while I was working but only a 14 mile round trip. The battery on 90% charges to 180 miles... CAC 155.11 Shawn
For anyone reading this later, 180 miles with a CAC of 155 would be a "Standard" charge. The Roadster doesn't have a "90%" charge, just Standard (internally about 83%) and Range (internally about 93%). Adding to the data pool, my 2010 2.0 is still on its original battery. 52k miles, CAC down to 136.75; standard charge of about 159 miles ideal. Seems to drop a little over 1 CAC point per year (was 142.6 at the end of 2014).
1 more data point: Original Battery, 2010 2.5 Sport 33,000 miles, 144 cac, 171 Standard miles, (coolish UK)
Roadster 1.5 #72 Built November 2008 31k miles Original R56 pack Standard charged it ~165 miles a couple days ago Mostly a garage queen in the SF Bay Area
2011 Roadster 2.5 Sport #1462 Built late November 2011 44K miles Original R56 pack Standard Mode is 178 mi Range Mode is about 230 mi
Original owner #190 here, ~40k miles, was charging at ~170 miles in normal mode, always garaged, only range charged a few times per year too. But the PEM or battery (not sure) suddenly died 2 weeks ago just in front of the Tesla dealer. So seems that such good charge results were not indicators of good health.
Just got my wife's baby back from @petergrub. Had a brick go bad, and they had to replace a sheet, otherwise, it's good. Approx 165 miles on Standard mode... Haven't range charged it... So testing it out now...
