Does anyone know if any of the insurers are reasonable? I looked last year and the quotes were around £450 which seemed fine (14 years / 13 NCB) but there seems to have been a massive shift and the standard group are now coming up at between

£800 lowest but on average £1400 - £5000 a year which seems excessive.

I think this may have had a lot to do with the start of lockdown as my insurance started on the 31st March and clearly most of us weren't driving around doing our usual miles back then.

Agree with Direct Line - for a 35-year-old with 8 years NCD they quoted £340 per year... everyone else on a well-known comparison site quoted similar to you... 800+ (with a black box fitted) or 1500 - 3000 with massive excesses.

I don't know if there's actually a difference between using the directline.co.uk/tesla link or just their normal site - but oddly the normal site quoted me £1 cheaper :p

Privilege came up on a recent comparison site, seems like they've joined Direct Line and Churchill in being prepared to insure Teslas at a reasonable rate.

They also insure cars with PPF which I'm hearing Direct Line do not.

Generally the best are churchill, directline and LV, also check out comparison sites. Novo is recommended often but can often be more expensive.

It's because Privilege and Churchill are part of the direct line group.

Agreed Churchill are the only reasonable quote to date.

I was just curious to what has pushed the rate so high.

I’m assuming it’s probably because unlike other cars where insurers will have their own preferred repair places - with Tesla’s they probably are forced to use Tesla for repairs rather than an independent company - could be wrong just guessing.
