There are a ton of EVSE kits like EVSE Electric Vehicle Charger EV Level 2 220Volt 16A for Leaf Volt Prius | eBay (not an endorsement). $150 for a 16a/240v EVSE from random no-name Chinese vendors.
Does anyone have experience with these cheapo setups? I've got a 240/16a setup at home and so this is really all that I need. I'm tempted to buy one of these and either leave it plugged into my NEMA 6-20 or chop up the plug and hard-wire it into my outdoor box.
A clipper creek LCS-20 is obviously the correct thing to buy, or a tesla brand outdoor charger throttled to 16a would be nice, but $150 vs $350 or $500 is a big difference.
But then a wise man once said that you overpay once or buy a bargain over and over and over again...
