Since it's only available until Sep 30, has anyone else decided to go for the middle ground option and get EAP over FSD?

I think they overcooked the price. I would do it for 3k.

I figure that EAP was what I had planned on getting when I first planned on getting a Model 3. They removed it not long before the Model 3 came to NZ and the only way to get these features was to pay full price for FSD.

Back when I was looking, I don't think any of the demo cars have FSD just Autopilot. So it maked it difficult to decide if FSD is worth the $$. Dono if that's the case now. It was more of a blind faith call I suppose.

EAP is an easier pill to swallow

I gave it some thought but decided it's just too expensive for my typical usage. I don't commute and most of the time I drive the car on weekends just for fun. Big fun indeed. I don't think I'd use summon or autopark but auto-lane change I do really want and that has almost got me to do it. But then I remind myself how little I drive on the motorway.

But I do wonder still and so question for those that have FSD, how well does auto-lane change or NOA work in Auckland?

I've used NoA a bit since I got EAP and it seems really good! The other day I had it enabled as I entered the Southern Motorway, took the exit and merged itself onto the South Western Motorway and then took the exit and merged onto the motorway to the Airport all without me having to do anything (except for holding the wheel to confirm I was there). In between all these exits it was also changing lanes to get around slower traffic and then moving back as required to prepare to exit.

The only criticism I have is that it likes to get into the far left lane in preparation for an exit a lot earlier than I would - most times it's getting into that lane an exit or two before the one it needs to take. However, you can tap the notification on the screen to tell it to hold off a bit.

I would have been more tempted if still commuting regularly, but with covid-induced WFH I don't do as much motorway driving where it would be useful.

NoA is great i use it every day . Sometimes it can be a bit dodgy with merging cars.

I've noticed if your already on the motorway It does see the motorway on ramp traffic light control if they are active and thinks it should stop. I haven't had merging traffic light control on the motorway yet with the latest update to see if it's still doing this

NoA exiting motorway If the exit is wide and there is a gap in the road markings it can get confused

    Traffic light control
Currently will stop for all traffic lights
Unless you tell the car otherwise.
Except if there is a car in front then it will
move off by itself as the lead car moves
Cant handle turning at lights yet.

On the hole it's behaviour is improving
Much less stress letting NoA take the wheel
    and more reliable than Jesus

    1st rule of Smart Summon
Never talk about it, otherwise you might be asked to demo it
    2nd rule of Smart Summon
never works when you want to show it off

Well my drive home tonight motorway on ramp traffic light controls were on
Disappointingly NoA still sees the on ramp traffic lights while traveling on the motorway
and wants to stop (2020.36.11)
it's been doing this since auto stopping for traffic lights was enabled for NZ

    Roll on 2020.40.0.4
