Is there any Tesla owner or future owner from Asia here in the forum? It would be nice to set up a little community here.

Yep. There are about a dozen roadsters in Hong Kong, and we're just starting an owners club.

And I'm the third one posting from HK... HK is the absolute perfect location for electric cars, and the Roadster completely tears it up!

Still waiting (patiently). Factory #3, so should be the end of April.

Found an interesting LEGCO answering regarding expressway permits:

LCQ 19: The wider use of electric vehicles

Dated December 1st 2010 - Secretary for the Environment: An EV owner may apply for vehicle first registration and an expressway permit at the same time. In general, the permit, together with the vehicle registration document and the vehicle licence, can be issued to the applicant on the second working day after the application.

Perhaps when I apply for the permit, I should staple that quote to the application? Maybe get it in less than a month?

I agree with you tetsuos, Hong Kong is the best place for EVs!

What makes Hong Kong so good for EVs?

Pros:
Short journeys
High levels of air pollution
Excellent electrical infrastructure
High fuel costs

Cons:
Few private garages - difficulty of arranging charging infrastructure
70+% coal for power generation
Few sloping roofs for solar

Anything else?
