Anyone that has removed the ESS want to share tips

Yup, and there was no water damage except a little staining on the seat. Unfortunately the battery has some bricks that remain low so its got to come out.

I estimate that only a tiny fraction of all Roadster owners have ever removed the ESS themselves. So the chance of having any of that very small group of owners respond within a few days of your post is low.

And of course, not having a publicly available service manual further reduces the likelihood that owners will try to do their own Roadster repairs.

At this point, many years after Roadster production has ended, it seems likely that Tesla will not release a service manual.

Am I correct you need to put the car on a lift and drop the ESS from the bottom? And at 1100 lbs that is not an easy task.

Yeah, that is very true. I needed to separate the rear end anyway for a motor upgrade. 2 post wouldve been easier for sure.

Motor upgrade? I was going to use whatever parts were good and put a V6 in it.

I use a rolling cart underneath and lift the body up.

I saw that Tesla was offering access to the service manuals at one point, but you had to pay a fee. I'd reach out to [email protected] to see if they will do this. For the Roadster Generation 1, I think they should offer the manuals especially since they're no longer making those cars.

Yeah it’s going to be really difficult to do it the way you’re looking to. Also, make sure the vehicle is strapped to the lift. There is a boat load of weight where the battery is located and if using a 2 post the front end can get a bit light potentially causing the Roadster to fall off the lift. (Previous Employee)
